First off, I have no ill feelings towards US, or thier employees !!!!!!!!!!!!!

With that said,......I believe this DOJ resistance is squarely aimed at US, not AA.

US has proven it can make money ALONE (thanx to the valuable Philly hub).

The time has come (now) I believe, for AA to line up financing for Jet Blue. (the B I G money boys...ARE..out there) !

B6 is TOTALLY.....NON Union,...a BIG plus for AA (customer service wise). Compatible A/C.
Lets face it,....all the new flying over these few years that B6 is doing, is old AA flying.
Let B6 fly domestic, and Carib,.....and AA fly all the International (except Mexico and Canada)

Something such as this, could have a strangly familiar 'ring-to-it', in that it would be close....to what (uncle) Bobby CRANDALL preposed years ago, when he vowed, NOT to chase 'Nickles and Dimes' domestically .

I'm hopeful R L C weights-in with a comment soon.(on todays DOJ announcement) !

Keep dreaming, Archie. I've got some friends in high places at B6, and they've made it clear they want nothing more than remaining friends with benefits...

Given market concentration and higher prices were concerns in this merger and a merger between AA and B6 would strike at both of those things, the chances are slim to none.

Quick math (may not be completely accurate) says AA-B6 would control more than 50% of the slots at JFK and certainly more than 50% of those operated by US carriers (who would provide meaningful domestic competition).

YOU of all people should NEVER 'count-out' AA !
And while/IF you know all the top dogs at B6,.....you DON't know..................A L L ........of the inner workings of AA !

If there's one thing the good ol' boys in N. Tex-ass, and '1600(Chicago) have in common, it's thier fondness for AA.

Well WT,.....are we being a 'bit HYPOCRITICAL now ?

You're always and forever....'tub-thumping' ...about how much of a controlling presence that DL has in JFK !!!!!

nhbb mgmt at both are going to fight the govt on this one.. nbc nightly news tonite interviewd a airline lawyer type for the air carriers and he said that this merger can still be approved but it just delays the timing it will be very interesting to see what happens over the next 5 months or so btwn now and say january

Even though it is the largest at both LGA and JFK, DL has about 35% of the slots at JFK and 48% at LGA. US has about 55% at DCA and UA has about 2/3 of EWR's slots.

US makes money because it's employees are the lowest paid.
Exactly, people seem to always forget that.

How will USAirways manage the 1.4 billion dollars due in 2014 with out AA's deep pockets?

IF the US deal is a No-Go, I'd Also consider a Good-Look at Alaska !

BUT, (as we ALL Know)...THAT WILL require the 'Blessing of Eolesen !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Last time I looked, Alaska has a market cap of $4 billion and isn't interrested in settling down. As e has said, AS likes playing the field and FWB relationships.

AS doesn't do anything for AA in the Southeast or Northeast. It would give AA a huge postion in the Northwest and Alaska.

And a bigger presence in CA. Wow.

The way DL has been pushing its partners, AA doesn't have to merge with AS or B6. They'd be better served finding a way of getting them into oneworld.

Don't rule out a US+B6 merger. :) AS has zero interest in merging and is rather expensive regardless.

Listen folks . There isn't gonna be any AA/B6 , AA/AS, or US/B6 merger. It will be AA/US . This merger will be approved . Delayed .. But approved ! Get that through your thick skulls .
