ITRADE,

Thanks for the info. One more question & then I promise I'm through - looks like the panel remanded the decision to the lower court. Any chance that the lower court could find a way to rule as they had previously on different grounds?

Thanks in advance.

Here's an article from the PIT paper on the ruling...

Court voids injunction against US Airways

In a victory for US Airways, a federal appeals court on Tuesday overturned a preliminary injunction barring the company from contracting maintenance work on several Airbus jets to an outside company.

The problem here is figuring out what the District Court is going to do. the 3d Circuit said yes, its a minor dispute. The District Court cannot depart from the 3d Circuit's holding.

Any bets on when A/C's 706, 707 and 101 will ferry to Alabama? These airplanes are not parked at Goodyear yet. They are parked in PHL and CLT.

Remember the company has stated that this will cause no lay offs. Any one want to bet?

We have all seen what third party maintenance does. I feel sorry for the flight crews and passengers.

--I wondered why the company has not been posting Mechanic and Related jobs up for bid the last few weeks. Any time that happens you know something bad is going to happen soon. The company may of had some inside word.
I hope your not saying what i think you are. I hope your not an employee of usair. By posting that type of crap on open boards is ludicrous. People who read stuff including media take this stuff and roll and all we need is something like this to further dagse US

Whats left of the consessions stand should be used to meet and discuss how you can help save this company ! This is a done deal ! One an appeal is made (if it is) its done.

History shows what third party maintenance does. It is no secret. Look at the history even of late. Read into that what you like. Fact is fact. Third party maintenance is all about reducing cost. Even 'U' has stated that.

--Gee, did you hear about the first Airbus that came out of that place?

No need for further discussion. The company will have more than enough savings from this. The Pilots and other labor groups need to give nothing. Matter of fact they ought to get a refund of some cash.

in the short term, it won't. There are no reductions in the number of mtc tracks planned. The company only contracted to do the first 10 airbuses. This gives the company and the IAM time to hammer out a deal, get the necessary tooling, parts and training. It is still my feeling that this work does belong in house. It is time for the 2 parties to sit down, hammer out a deal and stop parkign airplanes.

Unless the courts say those planes will never be done in house. It will always be cheaper to use unlicensed people off the street. Besides consider the Alabama connection.

--I bet layoffs within a few months if not in weeks.

And I bet that you are wrong. There are no planned reductions in the mtc tracks. The AB work was NEW work and would have created at least 2 additional tracks - thus recalling furloughed employees. We are still soing the heavy work on the Boeings and all the other checks on the AB fleet. How do you figure there will be this massive layoff?
