The VP Count

So what guys. Who cares how many VP''s there are?
If there were only two VP''s and the company was in the same position as it is now you would have just two to blame. So there is 29 and you blame them or the fact that there is too many.
Focus on doing your job, don''t worry about theirs.
Quit bitchin'' already.

And by the way PITMTC

Our customer no service is so embarrassing. Staffing levels this low are driving customers away...DAILY. Remember that, as you stand in line for hours waiting to speak to an agent. We almost lost it today......but who really cares about the customer, certainly not Dave or Al. BYCU

To me the salient feature regarding the veep count is, once again, U management is asking the troops to do something they aren't willing to do themselves.

I'd like to see them take the same haircut, on a percentage basis, they asked us to take. And no bonuses, please. The current Darwinism proclaims to only reward success, and U isn't one, yet. When U makes bucks, they make bucks.

Assuming the 5% deferral stretches on awhile, and it will, I wonder if the brass has the brass to accept bonuses during such deferral period?

It isn't the veep count that is killing us, it's the veep decisions. I guarantee you some of the jokers that dreamed up High Ground, Business Select and Metrojet are still amongst us.

The fact that U doesn't weed out non-performers on Executive Row has bled down to the front lines of management. If a CSM keeps his on-time and complaint stats in line, I know for a fact he can do as he damn well pleases. Interestingly, the troops have considerably more influence over these metrics than the manager.

Lord Acton didn't know the half of it.

PITMTC,

2 VPs and I would shut up for sure with regard to managment.

However, there have been NO DECREASES IN SENIOR RANKS, so complain I will. With all these yo-yo's in place they have yet to address all the problems that U still faces (Major problem being employee morale which no VP has yet to address other than giving you the ability to stuff a "suggestion box" to help them do their jobs cause they have no clue what the "front line" is all about), e.g. simpifying fare structures, stream lining fleet, providing better customer service as well as expediting service which needs MORE personnel, and just down right too many of these kinds of positions with no attempt to consolidate what so ever.

So far, they have now 34 VPs including this person for approx 19,000 LESS employees since 9/11; a huge, reduced work force. Wonder why they are keeping it quiet for now............Wonder what part of the 7.8% stake he/she gets?

So if we had 34 VP''s and we are now down to 29......simple math would state to me that we lost 5 VP positions. Which is it Pity?

Acutally there were 30. When I looked at my records I had counted 4 of them twice and Greg Taylor left (he was not eliminated). So, that was my fault.

But,

The very truth of the matter is go back to your records and look to see how many VPs we had January of 2002, (befor Siegel) and then how many we have today.

My records are correct and we had 23. SOOOOO, Siegel added his pals, knowing we were going to have a major reduction in work force. And guess what, they are STILL here.

Also, check out the INCREASE in Directors while your at it. Specifically Inflight and Customer service and Cabin policies and procedures etc etc, also Manager increases, while supervisors decreased. Also, take a look at when they occured. You'll find it very interesting, as I did, it was directly after each concession ratifications. Hell, you maybe one of them.

The VP page is not even accurate:

Darrel Hartzell is now VP of Aircraft Maintenance and Charlie Nardello is VP of IT, Support shops and Stores, those changes were back in October of 2002, and the web page has not even shown those changes.

In a nutshell, none of them are doing a good job period. Who cares how many there are. None of the moves made by anyone in the ranks has fixed any problems, only created more within the workforce. Too many big $$$ VP''s that are not performing and the ship is still on the way to the bottom. We are losing marketshare by the day, the employess have been beat to death and the competition is eating us for lunch. Clean house and get some new blood in here with some new ideas that will make the company prosper instead of their wallets.
