the first of several new labor contracts?

Thx for the kind words.  I honestly don't see anything before our 3rd year which will be Aug of 15.  I still think this is part of the companies plans to delay pay-outs to keep the share holders happy for 14 and 15.  Once were into 15 and all the added international flights and growth is when I see the company trying to make a better effort in closing these open contracts.  It's all about the bottom dollar and now the share holders...

Contract Update is on the site.  Once again the co is dragging their feet and postponing negotiations yet again by dropping the 2nd day of neg in Dec. and ONLY sched. 2 more days for the month of Jan.  It should be more like 2 days per week.  This just proves the company is still in no hurry.  The co has stated that they believe our contract will be finished by mid year 2015.  What are they smoking?  There is no way we will be done by mid 2015.  They will be lucky if we are settled by our 3 year in Aug 2015.  Remember when they thought we would be done before the end of the year?  Yea, that happened. Since the co wants to stall so bad, they will have to cough up retro pay for all.  This is the ONLY way we can stop them from all this stalling tactics to keep a cost free contract going.  By the time we get done they will have to get right back to the table for a new contract.  I say let AA get their new "industry leading" contract, let UPS get their new contract as well as Fed Ex and then we will settle.  Like I said, the longer the co takes the more it's gonna cost them in the long run.  They actually picked a very bad time to play their games as all the airlines are making record profits and record numbers and making great gains in their contracts.  Guess we will see where we go from here...

Just an update for 555 mediation. Comapny proposed to pay us a $1 per less than the Ticket counter. Then in the midst of the Negotiations committee organizing their response the company submitted a letter for binding arbitration.  This is really surprising given the profit projections for 2014/15.

The only group that SWA did not want to go to binding arb. was the pilots group.  The pilots union was the ones that filed for binding arbitration, and then the company requested an expedited arbitration and the pilots said NO.
Thx for the update.

Pilots did not file for binding arbitration. They filed for Fedral Mediation. A big difference!

You are correct 555.  My bad.  And yes it is a big difference.  Pilots filed for Mediation not arbitration.  It was a different group that is going to arbitration.  Thx for clearing that up...

Thanks for the update 555. Good luck to all of you.
