the first of several new labor contracts?

It's on the DL 142 website. This next session for MX they're supposed to give us the 'comprehensive package'. I'm sure they'll be trying to shore up new contracts for every workgroup now.

I fully expect that WN will report solid financials and I hope that they are soon able to sign contracts that end the labor standoff.

while you and I have gone around and around on a few things, mostly DAL, I do have a lot of respect for WN and think they are moving into a new phase that will be very successful.

WN has a long history of figuring out how to adapt to and win where other carriers stumble.

WN clearly has to manage its expenses carefully to avoid losing its cost advantage but there are enormous opportunities ahead and I can't help but think that WN will soon return to actual growth and not just reshuffling of assets and with that WN employees will see their personal financial situations improve.

here is wishing for a great financial report from you guys tomorrow!

thanks.

looks like there are small increases but nothing earth-shattering. largely 1.5% increases with me-too clauses doesn't indicate there will be large increases for any workgroup.

attendance bonuses indicate WN wants to improve productivity thru better attendance.

They were already suppose to pass this comprehensive in the 15th and 16th talks.  The company said that they were embarrassed to pass it over as they now thought it would just be a waste of time.  In other words they now have a better idea what it will take and the offer they had drawn up would have disrespected the membership big time, just like they did with the pilots group with their low ball disrespecting offer.

Yes, when I wrote that I didn't realize our 'next' session had passed. I sure hope it's a better offer than the TA that customer service just got. One good thing to see in their TA,(and from what I've heard also), is that they aren't after our sick time like they were. They must've actually looked at it and realize we don't abuse it.

The IAM vote on the TA will be on Dec. 2nd.

Yes Sharon, and only one single day to vote.  Why the IAM does it this way is beyond me.
This is not directed towards you Sharon, but whoever started this thread titled it as the first of several.  This one (IF voted in) will be the 2nd contract.  The Sym Techs were the first ones to sign a contract out of all our groups.  They kind of just quietly passed and signed in their new contract.  I forget the gate but the announcement can be found on the teamsters web site as well as a search in SWALife. It would be interesting to know what the new contract looks like.
From what I have heard thus far it sounds like it will go thru.  I do believe they did 2-3 months of mediation then a TA was reached.
Interesting is the Mediator for the TWU group (rampers) has cancelled all future meetings as they were not making any progress from either side.  Don't know for sure, but it appears they will be going to arbitration next and I believe they will be the first group to go that far.
Sharon, we just had 2 days worth of talks for the mechanic and related group.  I have not seen any updates as of yet, but expect one over the weekend or at least by Mon.  I will post when it is out.  Take care Sharon and have a good weekend...

I doubt they will go to arbitration they aren't in a 30 day cooling period nor has an impasse been declared nor has the NMB made the proffer of arbitration.

swamt IIRC the Simulator Techs ratified their contract on Mar.13th and I believe it runs thru Mar. 2016.
You are correct swamt on the IAM timeline. We filed for mediation on Aug. 25th (after 2 years of negotiating)
and reached a TA on Oct. 22nd. We had our monthly Union meeting on Nov.12 with a Q&A session as well as
informational  meetings that same day. We then all received a red-line version of the TA.
Thanks for the update on the rampers TWU mediation. Hoping your talks went well and looking
forward to your posted updates. Thanks for the weekend wishes swamt and I'm hoping
you're having a good one also... :)

Hi Sharon,
It overwhelmingly passed.  I do not have the % of yea and nea voters.  Looks like it will take mediation for all the groups this time around, as the Pilots just filed and rejected going to expedited mediation with the company.  As far as us (mechanics) company is still dragging their feet, only meeting 2 days per month, blah, blah, blah.  Were headed for the very same road as the Pilots by the way the company is working.  Our next meeting dates are for the 10th and 11th.  Here's the article:

Still more to go!  I agree with you swamt that it will probably take mediation for all of the groups since the company
seems to be dragging their feet with all of them. I hope your negotiations will go well eventually and that the Mechanics
will be offered a good TA to vote on. Good luck on some progress at the next meetings swamt.
