The Battle Will Begin Soon

One of the clauses in our contract states that the company may farm out work for lack of trained personnel......Yet the company would rather train non-employees to do the same work.....using resources that would be better spent in-house????

I say that if DAVE has the audacity to BLATENTLY AND WILLINGLY BREACH OUR CONTRACT WITHOUT REGARD FOR IT'S INTENT, THEN DAVE DOES NOT DESERVE TO RUN A COMPANY AT ALL

I say that the first Airbus that lands in Mobile is GROUNDS FOR SHUTTING U-S AIRWAYS DOWN PERMANENTLY  !!!!!!!!! THE INJUSTICES OF THIS REGIME MUST END!!!!!!

I realize that many fear this notion but AT WHAT POINT IN AN ABUSIVE RELATIONSHIP DO YOU TAKE A STAND????? I personally have 15+ years of my life invested here and I will be darned before I let these LIARS & THIEVES GAIN ONE MORE DROP OF BLOOD FROM THIS EMPLOYEE   !!!!!!!!

HEY DAVE, DAVE AND THE REST OF YOUR LIAR-PIRATES: YOU ARE NOTHING MORE THAN A BUNCH OF ABOMINABLE ROBBER BARRONS. AND MAY I SPEAK ON BEHALF OF MY FELLOW EMPLOYEES THAT SHARE MY SENTIMENTS:
GO AHEAD AND FARM AWAY....YOU REAP WHAT YOU SOW......AND I PROMISE IT WILL BE A FAILED CROP   SAY HELLO TO SATAN FOR ME <_<

DIS-RESPECTFULLY, E-TRONS......a ONCE productive employee.

E-trons, I beg to differ that is not contained in our scope language. No where in Article 2 does it state what you posted.

e-trons:my contract book says "lack of equipment"-are you infering due to your lack of experience on airbuses, that you qualify as "equipment" under this clause?
well i sure don't buddy boy...because where i went to school we learned how to use and read manuals.
how you say "get some seasoning"
make it cayenne dude!

Hey Lavman,

I found a merlin glitch last night. I did an MSNS for a Red "Hey Dave" shirt..and it came back with "No match found".

What's it take to get one of these things? My "No Farm-Out" button is getting real lonely hanging from my ID cord!!

No joking around ..I want one bad !!! I only wish more understood the severity of this issue.

Lavman,

I may not agree with how you say it all the time...but I have never for a moment failed to see the real problem here for a scant moment. With or without the IAM's party line !!

I think if you will reflect back for a moment ? I have spoken out on the "Evils of Out-Sourcing" on a number of ocassions here.

(1) I believe outsourcing is first and foremost the quickest way to head toward a disaster ..due to lack of positive control , if for nothing else?.

(2) I'm equally certain that every employee has taken all the bites and cuts they were asked to take to keep this company aloft...yet their is no such thing as enough for this leadership to make it right on.

I think we gave them all the tools...and they can't make it work..or refuse to try to make it work? , in order to found thier continued argument with labor...and to facilitate thier obscene greed and mis-guided approaches to simplistic problems that too few actually see.

(3) I see U placing itself in dire straits in regards to spare parts via outsourcing.

On a daily basis , WE are absolutely FORCED to ROB parts from any spare Acft you choose to name? Having a plane sitting in Forrest Gump-Ville will only lengthen the distance and time between things , that we can ill afford , when this or that is needed.

Trust me on this...The Airbus is doing to us in 5 years time... The same way that a Mid-80's B737 is doing us in regards to off the wall needs. The warranty claims are astronomical..and that ship will soon sail.

Any Airbus with a remotely lengthy ETR becomes automatic ROB-Bait...it will be just like the problems America West has with thier Canadian based outsourcing hurting them at home in PHX...why replicate someone elses problems?...Time and Distance costs big money!!...why not use that same money to take care of your own? Right?

The big picture for Joe IAM is this...in time (short order) The Boeings are going to be rapidly retired if Dave gets his way on this issue? The story about the ranks not being thinned under thier present desires is short lived at best...and a lie to say the very least.

I believe we all know...That this is not just the mechanics that will fall victim either..or at least I do.

Sure we will see the mechanics cut by almost half in time...that's a given wrong on all accounts !!

You will see Utility and Stores reduced in a semi-alike manner as well. Then you have groups like Planners , Controllers , and Technical Documents people that will be hit as well. I do believe the ranks in those combined groups are under 140 people at present...with 5 total openings still vacant in both PIT (4) and CLT (1)

In summation...Yes I have a dog in this fight...and I have since the day I took the job...union represented or not? This is not about my favor with or for the Union..it's about standing up against something thats destroying our company..and the people that make up the company.

Lav...we have our differences from time to time...and certainly differences in approach and thought , but on a matter of right Vs. a clear and present wrong...WE are on the same team on this subject !!

Don't assume that I've arrived to your way of thinking...I have always had my way..and always will !!..it's just that we meet in the middle on a common ground on this issue.

LAVMAN and DELLDUDE,

Your IGNORANCE speaks volumes as to the type of characters you really are. You two need to get together, put your DUNCE caps on and brush up on your contract language instead of taking everything the IAM says as gospel. Then repeating it so others might be misled.

You claim that I post falsehoods and question my ability to interpret manuals?? After 20 years in aircraft maint I KNOW that I do indeed qualify.

Allow me to introduce to you two know-it-all NOT's, to PAGE 101 of our labor agreement. CLARIFICATION OF ARTICLE 2-b, Par-G to be precise......

"WORK SUBCONTRACTED OUT TO A VENDOR WILL BE OF THE TYPE THAT CANNOT BE MANUFACTURED OR REPAIRED IN-HOUSE BY EXISTING SKILLS / EQUIPMENT OR FACILITIES OF THE COMPANY."

Key words here being: EXISTING SKILLS, EQUIPMENT or FACILITIES.

This language is right out of our labor agreement for all to see and judge for themselves. Gee, nothing loop-hole about it here eh??

Now that I have educated you, Do you still feel that I am guilty of what you accuse me of doing?? Still not sold?? I have more for you two NAIVE-FOOLS......

This is the EXACT LANGUAGE THAT DAVE WILL ATTEMPT TO EXPLOIT IN COURT!!!

This is the EXACT REASON THE IAM REFUSES TO ARBITRATE THE ISSUE.....THEY KNOW THAT IT IS WEAK AND THEY WILL LOSE.....THAT IS WHY THEY RATHER GO OUT ON STRIKE!!! ASK VIC MAZOCCO ABOUT THE VALIDITY OF THIS FACT!!!

HEY JOE "CONCESSIONS" TIBERI: WHERE ARE THOSE 77 LAW FIRMS AT?? WHY ARE THEY NOT SEEKING EXPEDITED ARBITRATION WITH THE COURTS?? YOU KNOW THE TYPE THAT SEEKS RESOLVE TO VIOLATIONS PRIOR TO THEM OCCURRING?? OR ARE THEY BUSY DRAWING UP MORE CONCESSIONS FOR THE MEMBERSHIP???

WHY DON'T YOU TELL EVERYONE THE ANSWERS TO THESE FACTS?? LET'S HEAR IT!!!

It seems that as usual, TIDY-BOWL MAN, that your row-boat once again has gone down the drain......taking you and your follower DELLDUDE with it. I expected nothing less
You better get started on your damage control effort and your next mis-information campaign :p

And finally, GET SOME SEASONING ALREADY

E-TRONS OUT :D

oh the pain....anybody tell you about yelling and etiquette?
i see you are taking things out of context....you better reread the whole context of that section.
first sentence as follows:
TYPES OF WORK CUSTOMARILY CONTRACTED OUT.
last i checked article 2 states:all work involved in dismantling;overhauling, repairing, fabricating, assembling, welding, and erecting all parts of airplanes.,etc,etc.
you need some seasoning!ah ha ha ... <_< :D
too many of our fellow people read too much into things, yourself included.get into a course on contract interpretation.
CHARACTER ASSASINATION WILL FOLLOW.

DELLDUDE,

It doesn't matter how you or I interpret the contract. What matters is how the company LAWYERS will argue it to a judge.

That is what I have been trying to point out to you and your pal LAVMAN. They will indeed go to every extent to exploit any loophole whatsoever. They will take a clear paragraph and completely distort it into something they can use against the IAM. Have you ever been to court and see the lawyers in action?? You just can't be that out of tune with how Lawyers and Courts work can you??

When I USE CAPS IT IS MERELY TO STRESS THE TEXT.....I am not yelling at you and if you think I am yelling then get earplugs.

As far as character assasination goes.....you are doing just fine all by yourself. :p

E-TRONS OUT B)

E-trons you fail to bring the CFM arbitration and court case involved, the arbitor and judge ruled you cant close facilities and dispose of tooling in use to circumvent the contract. We lost the work but won language because US never overhauled the CFM56.

Also did we ever overhaul a dc-9, md-80, 737-200/300/400 or 757 or 767 before we flew them? No we did not but you mechanics have the skill to perform that work and we also have proof of when the company proposed to vendor out checks in the first round of concessions, so how could it not be our work if they proposed to take it from us in concessions?

Open your eyes.

I think at one time before U sold it, Air Motive in San Diego/ PSA did CFM-56's. Another one of Airways big stupid moves!!

Lav,

I think that is the language the company will use. They did not sell any of the Airbus tooling, but you yourself stated:

"We lost the work but won the language because US never overhauled CFM56s."

The company's stance I am sure will be along those lines. To me, that statement benefits the company more than the IAM. IMHO, this is going to arbitration, as I can't fathom it being declared a major dispute by a judge.

I hate the idea of outsourcing maintenance from purely a safety issue. The battle must be won in the court of public opinion by our loyal customers like PineyBob. Get informational picketing and leafletting at all airports, get to every customer!

We have all ready done major work on the airbus narrow body, line mtc in DCA and CLT to the overnight c1-c10 checks, CLT heavy does the C-11 three day check, we have done engine changes, flap changes, cockpit door mods, lav corrosion repair and even rebuilt the tail section on a/c 167 an A321 which struck the runway with its tail on takeoff, that involved major structural repair.

We have the capability to do the work and the knowledge.

PIT is doing informational picketing and leafleting tomorrow and we in CLT have something in the works.

In regards to the existing skills, facilities, and equipment I can tell you an S check is pretty much what we do now only on a much grander scale. We currently remove all engines and flight controls. We also do the interior repairs. We do all of our airframe sheet metal repairs. So really all this S check is about is doing what we are currently doing only allot more at once. There is nothing we would not fix in a heavy check that we have not or would not repair during times in between the heavy checks. This includes heavy structural repairs.
