Sully speaks out on pay

The esteemed Members of Congress may have sat there listening to Sully and Jeff, nodding politely, with concerned looks on their faces.

But in the end, it will be business as usual. They will continue to cash campaign contribution checks from the ATA and its constituents, and continue to go home to their districts promising "cheap airfares for everyone!"

I was thinking the exact same thing as I read Sully's and Jeff's testimony. In one ear and out the other, with little in the middle to slow it down.

The truth is there is no pilot shortage here in the US. Now, you can take your A320 hours and rating and shoot over to Vietnam and make six figures as a new-hire F/O. Supply & Demand. Here you're married to your airline. No lateral moves. Won't change without a national seniority system.

Ahh, Management doesn't seem to have a problem being the highest paid management team in the industry despite the " lack of revenue"you refer too. Yes, the American Way of doing business. Seems to be pretty rampant in this country. Take LUV, for example who's CFO just publicly stated, "We need to take care of our employees first, then the pax. Let me give you the lineup with this "poor excuse for an airline" (or is that a small network leisure travel something or other). Management first-eighth, then pax, ......then employees, if we are even on the list.

Please cite your reference stating Parker et al are the highest paid in the industry.

Also, that LUV policy of "employees first, customers second" has been public knowledge for decades.

Did you just discover that philosophy?

I wonder if there is now the chance that sully could save us airways with his poltical capital ...... after appearing at every major US event during the first half of this year will the us goverment allow this man's airline to fold ? hmmm it's a long shot but you never know .

Something tells me that Sully will never again have to fear the unemployment line.

 That's an idea whose time has probably come.

Agreed!! Everyone thinks that US Airways has to send the Brinks Truck to deliver a Senior Pilots paycheck. At one time that was true. Not any more.

Just out of curiosity what does a TOS E-190 pilot earn in a year?

FYI, USair pilots were never overpaid! All USAir pilots are underpaid now. I don't want to remind anyone of what an E-190 captain earns. The E-190 is a nice plane but it should get the same pay as a 737. What is it? A foot or so shorter???

One of the things about this board that has become so boring is the constant fights between the East and the West. I am unabashedly siding with the East on this one. Yes, the fight is over pay, you bet it is.

There was one mistake made by Leslie O Barnes and I bet most of you don't know who he was........!!! and that was he didn't MAKE the pilots accept a common base between Idlewilde, Lagarbage and Sewark. If he had stood up to them then, USAir would own EWR now instead of CAL.

After that, every CEO at the helm of AAA or whatever you want to call it, took it downhill another notch until this moment in time. They've all walked away with a huge amount of money for trying to run this company into the dirt once and for all. It is the strength of the East franchise that keeps this thing going.

Piney, the events of the past weeks should make the cheapskates who fly realize that a pilot is worth much more money than he is making now....at any airline.....LUV is the exception to every rule.

Did Allegheny or USAir ever even have a base at any NYC airport before they bought the Trump Shuttle?
