This post is not meant to be "For" or "Against" any arguement on here. I have read a few pages and wish I had the time to read them all. I will simply make a few remarks and be on my way. Since this topic is sparked by Terrorism, I'll try to stay on that track and not get into the political crap. Let's go way back about 2000 years plus. What was happening? Arabs fighting the Jews. I ask WHY? Why is it that Israel can't have their own little space, as the Arabs do, and be left alone? It seems to be mostly about that little city called Jerusalem. Now we have the Jihad crap going on and a bunch of fanatics that want Americans to die at any cost for the "lucky dog pass" to get 72 virgins in Muslim heaven. Well, I hope they all look like Rosie or Oprah without the Jenny Craig program. I for one would go in a Heartbeat to serve my Country if called upon. In closing, since when did this "Ethnic Profiling" become such an issue? Of all the acts of Terrorism since the 70s-80s, other than Oak City, Thank you Timmy, it's all been by Muslim males, 17-40. My suggestion would be to call it "Terrorist Profiling". That would now include females as they too are fanatics if following Jihad. Looking back until now my guess is there will never be peace over there and now here comes Iran again acting all puffy and chit. Then we have the Koreans also wanting to strut. I don't think we should be the World Police but we can't sit back on our a$$es either. I do think we should be pro-active and stop it where it is before it hits American soil again. Whatever it takes! Thank you for your time.

Yes we need to complete the mission in Iraq and possibly move on to bigger fish if need be, but we can not walk away from what we have initiated or the consequences will be far worse. We need to help stabilize the New Government, destroy the insurgents, And Then leave.

Israel has been fighting them for over 50 years and has not won. Hell, they won 6 wars against nations and have not 'won'. We fought in Viet-Nam for 17 years and did not win. The last war we won was WWII.

Given our history of wars, I don't see a victory against a enemy that wears no uniform and represents no country. An enemy who is fighting for something they believe in with a fervor that we cannot even comprehend. This has been going on for thousands of years and you expect it to be won in what ... 10 years .... 20 .... 30.... how long till you say enough is enough? Do you have a cut off point? If in 40 years we still have not won the 'war on terror' then what?

We cannot even win a war on drugs and you want us to win against terrorist that make the dug lords look like pansies? Let me know how that works out for you. I hope we do 'win' in short order. Less lives of soldiers wasted but I am afraid I do not see that happening given our track record.

Marine Col. Guy A. Stratton, head of the manpower mobilization section, estimated that there is a current shortfall of about 1,200 Marines needed to fill positions in upcoming deployments.

Some of the military needs, he said, include engineers, intelligence, military police and communications.

As of Tuesday, nearly 22,000 of the 138,000 troops in Iraq were Marines.

The call-up will affect Marines in the Individual Ready Reserve, a segment of the reserves that consists mainly of those who have left active duty but still have time remaining on their eight-year military obligations.

Generally, Marines enlist for four years, then serve the other four years either in the regular Reserves, where they are paid and train periodically, or in the Individual Ready Reserve. Marines in the IRR are obligated to report only one day a year but can be involuntarily recalled to active duty.

According to Stratton, there are about 59,000 Marines in the IRR, but the Corps has decided to exempt from the call-up those who are either in their first year or last year of the reserve status. As a result, the pool of available Marines is about 35,000.

This is to help augment the areas lacking in specialist, this is not the same as a draft due to lack of manpower.

Not to minimize the War on drugs, but that hardly equates to an enemy who is determined to wipe every non-muslim from the face of this planet. Perhaps you liberals are ready to concede, and maybe even convert But this country did not become what it is today by Appeasing the enemy and as long as I have my right to bear arms it never will.

This country has tunnel vision. The last war that we won was WWII, since then the wars have been failures. The reasons why they have been failures are wide spread, but they are irrelevant in terms that they wars have not been won. We are living in a different world where different techniques are needed. I also do not know or have all the answers. I do feel that what we are doing now will not work. The people who which to do us harm for what ever reason are wide spread and very very organized. They have watched us and know how to fight us and win.

To say that we could be fighting for 30 years or who knows how long is just going to put this country into a tail spin even quicker. No country, much less the US which is comprised of 15 or 20 second sound bytes is going to settle for a drawn out conflict. We have only been in Iraq for 3 years and people are already fed up. They don’t like seeing their children killed. They do not like feeing that they are not being told the truth by this administration. They do not like seeing that no, or very little progress has been made.

All I know is that if you (meaning your party) do not find a way to end this conflict soon, you will be in deep crap. At the very least you will in all likely hood loose control over the senate and white house. The people will not put up with it. That is a simple reality that can be proven by looking at history. American people are short sighted and impatient. Why do you think W went to the aircraft carrier and said ‘mission accomplished’? I read one theory that the reason we dropped nukes on Japan in WWII was also because this country was tired after 5 years of war.

So what's the plan???? It's easy to complain about how we are fighting the war now but if you insist on complaining please come up with an alternative besides anything but what President Bush is doing. At least he is doing something whether you like it or not. If you have been following the news you might have heard that Iran's president Ahmanawhackjob wants to vaporize us to bring back his messiah. And he is not kidding and is willing to die for it.
