Send your elected officials a letter

I'm still struggling to find out the relevance of writing an elected official when this is a matter for the courts. Is someone suggesting that politicians exert pressure to influence a judge's ruling?...

I know the separation of powers between the judicial, legislative, and administrative branches has been blurred quite a bit during the past decade, but short of changing the anti-trust laws, writing a letter won't accomplish squat.
There is no relevance Eric, There is no plan for this have an impact. It is nothing more than a smoke screen to cover up failure at the bargaining table. These activities are simple mind control over the stupid and ignorant, to make them believe that everything humanly possible is being done to protect their interest and well being. When in fact, it is a loss cause plan and strategy all along and will have zero impact on the outcome.

Is this like when we were supposed to write to our congressman so AA could under fund the pension? I didn't by the way. I always think that if something is good for AA it is probably bad for me. Especially if the TWU is onboard. Just sayin

Well said!

Lets just say for arguments sake you are correct (which you aren't apropos), you lose credibility anyway with your comments.

Oh really? AA making money in BK, Spending money like crazy and yet showing monthly profits. They succeeded in breaking our contracts and freezing our pensions.
Wasn't it all about labor costs? Now labor costs are at the bottom and AA is making money without a merger. Do we really need a merger with USAir? We gave again and yet the sports complexes contracts are in place, the millions of $$$$$ being spent on the new branding, new aircraft arriving weekly and all financing is intact (unlike our contracts and pensions), new uniforms for the employees. Does this sound like a legitimate BK filing by a large corporation? Try to file a personal BK with money in the bank and no debt. See how far you can get.

If a carrier cannot make money in BK its probably going to become liquidated. Part of AA's restructuring was to gain a new fleet which would cut jet-A costs, as well as m/x, etc. AA got great financing on the deals as well. With the price of "black gold" >$105, it makes sense to get new fuel-efficient planes.

You fail to mention every legacy went through Chapter 11. It just wasn't AA. At least AA is trying to pay all the creditors in full (something which none of the other legacies were able to do).

Does AA need a meger with US? I say "HELL NO!".

AA's money is collateral money. Its almost the equivlient of taking a loan on one's home (especially after it was paid off), putting it in the bank and saying "I'm rich".

Corporate BK and personal BK are competely different anyway.

Don't forget, it just wasn't about salaries, etc. It was also about renegotiating debt, etc. AA's is getting some great refinancing deals as well.

All-in-all, AA's revenues, yields, etc. is showing that AA's turn-around plan is indeed working.

And all those legacies pay better, give more vacation, more Holidays, at higher rates of pay and more sick time than AA. In fact AA has become the worst carrier to work for, by far. AA is trying to pay all the creditors, except labor, in full and they are taking the money from labor to do so. AA brought in over $7billion more with 40,000 less workers who all saw huge double digit paycuts, so where was all that money going? To the same creditors who had jacked up their prices and not only absorbed all the savings from the paycuts and layoffs but the additional revenue as well. Now you come here and boast about how AA is paying all their creditors as if they were doing something noble.

And did AA need to file BK to become profitable? HELL NO!!
The BK was a scam, less than a year prior to filing C-11 the company was bragging about how they were no longer in recovery mode and were transitioning to prosperity mode. Debt? What debt did they get rid of, debt that was coming to an end already, 20 year leases on stuff they they didn't use in ten years and only had 2 years left? In others words the holders of those worthless assets already got a ten year free ride because AA should have filed in 2003 and dumped them then. Bonds where the holders already doubled their money? Please, even Horton admitted this BK was only about screwing labor. Please produce a list of the other victims and lets see what they really lost. So far even the shareholders still have shares. The only parties that lost was labor, labor who had already given the concessions that AA might have seen had they filed in 2003 who were screwed again in 2012.
