This topic is being argued by an AA employee and an ex employee that does not want to return...weird. Is there anyone who has a dog in this fight please chime in lol.
even though i may not want to return does not mean i have no interest in the rights of f'a's. i just asked these questions to see if there was any wrong doing. i really enjoyed being a f/a, and afer all everyone has been through, i just wanted to ask the questions so maybe if someone did want to return, and didn't return the form, would have options. most of the people on here seem to have alot of info. and that is why i asked.not to argue a point just to get some info on it. something to talk about. thats all. not to upset anyone

Point made, just wondering if there is anyone that has actually been harmed that wants to press the issue with AFA.

thanks for the info everyone. i know this was all talked about before, but now since it is fact i just wanted to know if there were steps that could be taken. i just hope if there is some wrong doing, that it can be corrected. it seems to me like the co. should follow procedure as far as the contract is concerned. then again the letter clearly stated what would happen if you did not reply. i guess if this is a contract thing i hope someone can can do something, because even though it may not be worth much(to mgmt) it is our contract, and if we allow them to continue to fudge it here and there then we all may be in for a world of s**t!
I think what happens is that the commpany is sending letters for recall for 200 and they will go down the list. They expect an answer yes or no so that they can keep going down on the list. If you don't respond, they will assume that you are retiring per contract. If you DO repond NO, then they will pass you until the next recall when they will again start from the top. This may or may not mean that they will get to your number the next time because it would depend on how many they plan on recalling each time. I have heard that the goal is to recall all soon. They usually send important stuff via certified so that no one can say that they did not receive their letter.

This is an issue that I just don't understand why people don't get. It is so simple to me.

The company is not authorized to resign people at its whim. That is exactly what the company is doing... against the contract. Have we not learned in the last four and a half years that we cannot give this company an inch, because it will take ten miles if we do!? It seems to me that some furloughees on this board who are usually up in arms over this type of issue aren't making an issue now because their seniority may have just increased, or that their bite at the recall apple might now be a little closer. Same for me, but right is right. Like I said in the other post, absolutely people should make sure that the company has their updated information, and there's no excuse for that not being the case. That said, the contract only calls for the company to resign non-responsive employees for actual recalls, not "possible" recalls. If it wants to poll a few hundred extras, more than the number of positions actually available, that's one thing. But sending a blanket letter to all furloughees demanding to know their intentions, and resigning people in the system who don't respond, is unconscionable.

ACTUALLY I never received my "certified letter" just the regular which came late but thankfully I still had time to reply... If you received one but not the other you need to contact HR to verify mailing address....

Just to clarify since there seems to still be much confusion on the subject...

Not everyone that failed to respond to the letter was removed from the list. The only names that were removed from the list were those that could have held a recall but chose not to respond at all.

We've been round and round this subject before...but I say if it wasn't important enough to keep your address updated with the company for all these years, then you don't deserve to be recognized. If it was so important to those that have been removed, you would have kept your information updated in the event of a recall like the majority did. Good Lord - You've had nearly 5 years to do it!

i think all points on this subject are right. i actually can see both sides. to be ahonst, when i got my letter and seen "possible recall" i just thought they were trying to see where everyone would go if and when called back. thankfully, i'm in school, because i tossed it aside thinking that was just it, possible, in the furture, not in june. i would never want a more junior f/a who is waiting to go back to have to wait because of a no response. that is not fair. at all. i was just shocked to actually be considered released. it's kinda funny, right before i started school, i was at mda, and as soon as i got laid off from there, i get a letter saying i'm released from us. crazy  anyway, i guess i should have read the entire letter. i just had an issue with the actual "recall" and then the "possible recall". just made me think thats all. so, thanks to all you who gave me the info i needed. fly safe
