he's retired and his pension is not dependent on this company ... he's got an IAM pension ( which is completely separate from the performance of US Airways )...
Wrong,

I am not old enough to draw my PBGC pension and I do not have an IAM pension.

So dont make up lies, thank you very much.

UP,

Every merger leads to job losses, look at the history, and why would you help a company who doesnt respect you?

700, none of that has to do with the topic at hand. Do you thk a merger protects your job better or risk it? And if you think it protects it better but you still won't "Help" managment becuase they are the enemy (How anyone that earns a paycheck can thnk like that is beyond me), then you are making a rash and emotional decesion.
How can I?

I will tell you, I was a rep for over 15 years, I was on the negotiating committee for M&R during bankruptcy part 2, I dealt with Glass, Hemenway, Harbinson, McKeen and many others at US, I sat across the table and saw their arrogance first hand, have you?

I had a nice conversation with Lakefield at DCA after they terminated our pension, abrogated our cba and canceled the medical insurance for retirees.

Thats how I can have disdain for a company that doesnt give a crap about its workers.

I have lived and fought the battles, you havent and have no clue.

700 not to get too side tracked here what was your impression of lakefield ive heard in the past he really did not want to take from the employees but i really find it hard to believe that...

He was just a caretaker CEO, none of the unions would negotiate more concessions with Siegel so Bronner fired him and asked his good friend and former Shearson-Lehman (Amex) Executive to step in.

He wasnt involved and let Glass run the concession show, also he was making more than the CEO of WN-Kelleher and the CEO of B6-Neelman and Lakefield would not take a paycut yet US was in Chapter 11 the second time in less than two years, and WN and B6 was profitable and US was losing money.

I wasnt impressed with Lakefield at all and during our candid conversation, he admitted to being hands off and let Glass take care of the unions.
