Retro Pay for Local 591 ASAP Coordinators

I had to use the ASAP twice in my 30 years with AA. My issues were related to clarification of procedures. I had conversations on the phone and letters exchanged through snail mail with the ASAP coordinator. I believe they should be compensated. The issue that many of us have is attaching the retro pay to the voting selection. Better known as pork bellies in Washington DC. I voted in favor of the motion. I can see where this bothers one person more than another when you mention retro. Our union can not or will not ask for retro with the company but within our union affairs they have no problem throwing it out there. I hope it passes for the better of the members on the floor. This union wastes so much of our dues money I doubt anyone will be talking about this three months down the road.
I'll make a bet with you that we get retro. $20.00 sound good?

When you say "We" do you mean fleet or maintenance? Full retro not some phony percentage twu formula. Ahhh, nevermind. Wishful thinking.

ASAP has only been in existence for 18 years. It didn't start until 1997.

The AC that started it was: ASAP – 1997 – AC–120–66B

However, there were other programs that led to what we now have. I am glad it worked for you. It is an underused tool for (non-pilot) certificate holders.

I mean both groups and (IMO) it will be full retro. 3 reasons why.

#1 Of course your President's are going to ask for it. They're members as well and would want that check just as much as we do (To think otherwise is ridiculous)

#2 Parker stated in one of the road shows that the 7% was "already" budgeted. (Already implies past tense)

#3 They want the contracts to pass. Dangling that carrot on a stick provides far more yes votes than no votes for many people. And with you guys even more than us I don't think a simple $1500.00 signing bonus would cut it (Again IMO)

Now when will it be retro'd back to is the question? My "guess" would be the date that the added 4% was given to the FA'S?

We'll see???? (Again IMO)

I'm aware of this. In my almost 31 years it doesn't mean in my first 3 or 5 years. Just meant that in my career spanning 30 plus years I used it twice. Both times were in the 21st century.

I do think these guys do need to get paid. Unfortunately until we enter negotiations and start to SEE SOMETHING GOING ON i will still vote no. I see it as another way to show how unsatisfied I am with the association. Let the international pay them until I see movement. This is an asap program negotiated by the twu with the international blessing if we have no coordinators when we need them I would consider a lawsuit for lack of representation and name the international they do own the contract.
AGAIN TWU ASSOCIATION WHATEVER NAME YOUR HIDING BEHIND GET YOUR A** INTO NEGOTIATIONS BEFORE THE WINDOW CLOSES!

Get into negotiations do your job get us the contract we deserve then bring it up to a vote and I would be glad to vote yes.

GET YOUR A** INTO NEGOTIATIONS NOW!

What does negotiations have to do with these two mechanics who are helping you and your fellow mechanics.

Shows how screwed up and immature you are and short sided.

One thing has nothing to do with the other.

Exactly. Pretty crummy way to treat your floor brothers because you think it will make the Association cry.

The message you'll send to the negotiators will be this.

NONE.
