Once again he posts something about another company, this is not a Independence Air forum it is US, Mr Moderator this needs to be moved.

The flight to reality was diverted to fantasyland, the Arlington-based airline stated in a press release.

The Independence Air column is germane because US Airways will have to respond to this new LCC threat in the Washington market with its GoFares pricing initiative. This initiative will stimulate traffic and produce less revenue, that's where the marketplace is driving change.

Everybody sees this except those who are purposely in denial.

The consumer wants low fares and for a company to be profitable, it must have a competitive cost structure. That's why companies like Dell Computer, Costco, Best Buy, Home Depot, JetBlue, and America West propser. It's really quit simple.

I believe across-the-board for the majority of the employees an America West type of contract is better than what else is available, otherwsie those disgruntled employees would have already left US Airways' employment.

I recognize the proposed changes are distasteful, but what would it be like to finally have a competitive cost structure? What would it be worth at night to have a stress level comparative to Southwest Airlines? What would it be like to know you can work for this company and retire? How would this effect your health and outlook if the company could grow, add aircraft, and have a strong route network?

Therefore, I ask you what is peace of mind worth?

For those of us who are angry and would rather see the company "burn to the ground" instead of accepting this type of contract, I believe Dave Siegel made a valid point in his webcast. Siegel went so far as to encourage employees to leave the company if new work contracts aren't agreeable, rather than to fight the change. "If it doesn't work, I'd encourage you to support the change, and then go on and find something else," he said. "It's better to have a job when you're trying to find another job," Siegel said.

Respectfully,

USA320Pilot

Heck, why stop at an "America West type of contract?"

I think the first thing ALPA should do when CCY opens up for business tomorrow morning is to approach Lakefield and say, "We want to be so competitive, we are proposing that you only pay us whatever it is Independence Air pays its pilots, and not a penny more, to ensure the long-term survivial of our company."

After all, U has to be competitive in the DC marketplace, right USA320Pilot?

 Exactly!

If we really want to be competitive, and since pilots are the highest labor cost, why dont ALL of our pilots, every fleet and seniority, make MidAtlantic wages! The "active" pilots felt the lowest wages in the industry were fitting for thier junior peers, so why not for EVERYONE! Then the company would be making money gangbusters, and we could buy both United AND Northwest! Heck, throw in America West too!

If we can do that we wont even have to bother with the other work groups, why bother bringing a F/A to 30k from 40k when we can just bring a pilot 200k to 58k. Its great that they are so excited about that plan that hasnt really been explained or put into affect yet!

Folks, I'm only kidding. But this is how USA320's thoughts sound from this observers perch.

blah blah blah blah blah
Captain: Let me explain to you how concerned I am. Recently Lockheed Martin called me, AGAIN. They called me a year or so ago as well. I didn't return their call, that is how concerned I am.

I have my health, my brains, my skills and talents, which U doesn't appreciate in the least; in fact they loathe me, an hourly worker and a mechanic to boot. You know, the employee group who they are trying to steal our work from.

If I get sick, I better darn well have a Doctors excuse in hand and pray their new hired nurse approves my Doctors excuse least I get an occurrence.

If I am one second late from punching the time clock, and by the way the IAM is one of the very few work groups who must to punch a clock, if I am one second late, another occurrence.

If I don't get my task accomplished fast enough with no mistakes, then I am given a verbal tongue-lashing, which of course goes in my personal file.

If I make a simple mistake and three years goes by, I receive forms from the FAA to fill out explaining why, what, how, and it better be good or I lose my license. This by the way just happened to a co-worker, he was filling out his paper work yesterday while I was there.

When I apply for FMLA which I have done since it was enacted, I better have God sign the paper work because it is turned down 40 times before approved.

If I ask for a day off and there is one extra person off that week, in other words by the book to the letter of our contract, I am denied time off. So I never get time off when I really want it, this of course is in our contract, which this management holds us to. But if you reverse everything and see what this management team is doing to us the employees and our contracts. They break our contracts every day and tell us to take them to court, totally disregard not only the contract they signed on to, but the human element as well.

I could go on and on, point being, tis life at the big U. All this and then we have you begging us the employees to sign even more of our selves away to save what we have. That way we will still have all these punitive policies in place and will be paying way more for benefits and our wages will decrease.

And then you come on here trying to explain to what you believe are brain dead employees, why we MUST sign our very souls away. Captain, I will not give this management any more of my blood and I sure as hell will not sign away my soul to what I perceive as the devil's advocate.

Your are wasting your breath and causing yourself finger pain posting your nonsense on here Captain, save it for a captive audience of non-revs when you are flying your plane using the PA system.

One more thing captain, this is not, I repeat NOT an exclusive thought pattern only to be found on these boards, its pervasive through out the entire network of our once great company thanks to the likes of Glass. Look at the faces, look into their souls, it's obvious to everyone except yourself. Oh by the way, I am not in the least angry, that phase has long passed.

What a joke Evertime I read his posts I cringe because I know it reflects poorly on the pilots. I've personally taken a 65% paycut, yup, 65%! A downgrade and 4 equipment changes in the past two years, pension and benefit loses add up to this enormous sum. The furloughed people have taken a 100% paycut. usa320pilot has not even come close to the cuts myself and the furloughed guys have gone through so spare me the crap. For the rest of you, I am expected to take more of a paycut because my job requires more training, degress, and skill? This isn't right and you all know it. It's done, the company is dead. usa320pilot is posting the same old same ole over and over again because he's like a spoiled two year old having a tantrum because nobody wants to believe him. you push people too hard your point is lost. give it up already. I am on the first flight out US Saigonways.
