QC off the b checks

WHO Told you? Since "we have been told is your statement"

Why would aa fly a 777 to LAX for an engine change when the engine shop is there in texas? They don't have that many 777 in/out of LAX. The cost of shipping equipment, the engine, the flight of the aircraft, just would not be a good business decision?
They ship an entire 777 to Hong kong for a B check and interior mods. What's your point. The company always does stupid things.

Tell us all what your stations officers are saying?

As I said every station wants work, since it drives heads which bottom line gets everyone better shifts and days off, but the company decides not the boots on the floor.

So your Point is what?

Did you read GP's letter? That's what we know.

Lots of variables to consider... Just because the engine shop is in FTW doesn't mean they keep a bunch of spares there.

If they have a spare staged at LAX, which I'd expect they might given the number of 777 departures, why not do the work where the engine is?...

Trucking the engine across country isn't free, but it's cheap compared to a day of out of service time on a 777.

The who in who told us was a Hangar manager. They used to ferry 777's from JFK and Chicago with zero cargo or passengers to AFW just for engine changes.

4 or 5 guys to accomplish a "B" check now you're stretching it abit don't you think?

If one city/station/Hgr has 25-30 guys to accomplish a check any other will get the same. Doing left over cards to finish the check maybe. But having 4-5 guys assigned to accomplish a complete "B" check NOT True. Just calculate the man hours for the check. The aircraft would be in the Hanger for a week or more.

O/S is a spin master and is only here to promote the TWU's bs.

Read through out this forum on any thread.

That's the way it is at DWH. On Saturday 5 mechanics were on the B check and Sunday the same. We do not have the headcount for 7 day coverage and all of the drop ins on the weekend. Now with USAir in charge, there is very little overtime.

If they had a spare is the key thing. But the chance of an engine being at LAX vers DFW is a variable that I would hope AA would consider.

Jet fuel, landing fee and flight crew to ferry a/c is expensive. The original comment was to send it to LAX just for the scheduled change not if it was OTS and in need.

They probally did that due to the lack of engine change equipment at jfk or ord. Can't have enines for 777 all around the system, each state taxes parts, that in itself is expensive.

I believe they use the big Russian plane to move engines. Not trucks

They use trucks in the USA. I have only seen one Russian plane at AFW in my time there. But my time at AFW is over.

At my time in US, we have used a 747, an AN224 and a C130 to move engines for an AOG before.

If the AOG was close by we used our own trucks, except for the A330 engines, they were too big for our flatbeds and had to use a tractor trailer as it was an oversized load.

Heard from friend in MIA they did their first 777 I check and it was pulled out of DFW. How will the local respond?

What the hell does the Local have to do with I checks or aircraft in or out of service?
Contrary to your upbringing and Kool-Aid illness the TWU doesn't manage American Airlines.

Last time I checked both stations have the same Local. If any objections will be made it will end up being conflict of interest.

Nothing. The 777 BCs have now been added to DWH and 777 ICs are now moved to MIA. My question is was this movement in response to DFWs actions regarding QC changes and will there be a man power change at DFW as a result?

No koolaid involved although I do like koolaid.

Well lets see here.... DFW,ORD,MIA,JFK,LAX all fly the 777 and have hangars to work on them. All Class 1 stations and all represented by the same Transcontinental TWU self appointed local of 591. So what is the problem? I am sure if the membership complains or asks the good ole TWU in DFW to look into it the answers will range from They can do that brother or maybe we are all in the same local.
