Now 700 if we must sling mud.. Can You tell us all about the IAM mess is PIT and them fine upstanding IAM members that were caught by the NMB i think for illegal union business??and just what were they falsifying.
The issue in PIT was over who printed the crappy voting ballots and one of the loser's found a loophole that they couldn't be printed by a relative of an officer. It probably cost all of about $100 to print the damn things. That's the BIG Scandal ! A little difference between that and an IBT goon being arrested every other week.

The IBT was aggressive because they can legally cross lines and raid other organizations being a non AFL-CIO Union member. So when the company closes PHX or PIT or wherever your from you will be furloughed and probably out of a job because your seniority doesn't mean a thing in LAX or PHX or TUL with a Teamster represented group. The IAM has the most liberal seniority rules in the Airline Industry. The IBT organizer in CLT was fired several times by US over anger management issues and the IAM got his job back several times. Is that what you mean by aggressive? He is a perfect fit for the gangster mentality of the IBT.

That's true, they do have a good seniority policy. Hell, the Ibt STILL hasn't figured out the seniority integration of UAL and CAL, and they're both Ibt represented. The IAM has a deal in place with the TWU for the US/AA merger. Also, the bumping to wherever your seniority holds is good, and lifetime recall is good (which UA still has). My only gripe was premium seniority, didn't like that at all...

Ok, then that was changed under the Ibt.
Another reason to add to the "do not vote for the teamsters list". If I am not mistaken, US with the IAM do have lifetime recall? If you guys don't want to lose this then keep the IAM. I would also be extremely leery of the pensions being transferred to the ibt then the pensions going by the waste side as we have been reading lately. Save your pensions and save your lifetime recall, KEEP THE IAM...

The IAM/US CBA has lifetime recall rights, and five years seniority accrual upon layoff.

As much as I support AMFA I would have you guys keep the IAM for now. Wait until this merger is complete and then see how things progress and then we can start another card drive when we are all on the same page. Here at AA we should hear any day now on the filing results. As bad as the TWU is I would not be too disappointed if no election is called. The Teamsters are bottom feeders. This Association thing is untested and we should vote it down when the time comes. There are too many issues at USAir that are unresolved and not really sure what will happen if the Teamsters gets in. Pensions???
Seniority???

Little bird told me the AA filing will be on hold till after the US Airways vote as not to sway votes one way or another so any day now as you say may be 30 days.
If you think about it, it makes sense.

HAVE A NICE IBT DAY.

Fear????

This merger has to be wrapped up soon. If a election is called it needs to be done in a timely manner. Waiting till after your vote results and then waiting another month or so will drag this well into September.
Not likely. Your talking about American and the TWU pressuring the NMB. AA has been successful thus far in BK getting what they want. NMB will not wait until the USAir voting results are in. This is way above our pay grades to think it will happen as you say.
It has been over five weeks now since the filing. We should hear something by next week if the NMB follows past practices.

NMB is not going to drag this out because of a vote at USAir.
Two different companies about to complete a merger in BK.
Labor contracts have to be in place before a SCS is approved. Have you noticed that you have no CBA yet? That has to be done. Everything is going to be fast tracked to get this BK and merger completed. The NMB is not calling the shots. The BK Judge is. A FEDERAL judge. The creditors want to get paid and are not going to sit back and wait for AMT's to vote for a union.

Since when did the government ever use common sense?

What issues are unresolved ? We have a Defined Pension Plan. We have the best seniority system in the Industry. We have Ten Holidays. Full pay for sick time with over 100 days accrued. We have 5 Weeks vacation. We have a decent Medical and Dental Plan. A pretty good electronic bidding system etc, etc. and we hopefully in the near future will boost our wage rates up with the other two Legacy Carriers in the US. The only problems we have are a bunch of delusional Teamster card signing morons who think the grass will be greener on the other side because they weren't happy with the IAM over bankruptcies. Many of our contract positives will be negated with a Teamster represented negotiation going forward. You can count on it.

They used a company copy machine and computer to produce information, and agreed to re-run the election.

Hardly the same as the IP trying to bribe people to win an election.

And what about Ron Carey?

So show me where the DOL said they did anything illegal or falsified information?
Your right about the company copier and paper. I was misquoted about the production of the informational letters. The IAM official used a company copier and paper to print voting information for members of the e-board on the letter that were running. Of all the allegations this one was the only one to have any validity because others on the ballot said they did not have the same access to the equipment.

NO fear 1AA just common sense the NMB will not let any union influence the vote at AA or US.
The battle of the Low Wages has already been fought. Its in the next contract. So what else is your issue Travis? So you think we should just to hand over more money for dues to negate the eventual pay raise the next CBA will get no matter what representation? In fact your Medical rates will probably go up under IBT. Even less money in the pay check. I'm sorry I don't see any benefit to vote for a Union that slides out from under the rock when food kitchen starts to serve the hot meals.
