You and I have had various disagreements before, but in this case you are right on the mark. My comments: the IAM has basically become a neutered pussy cat to negotiate with. They have no stregnth, or courage to do what is correct. Instead, they allow a vote on a final best offer, to "leave it up to the membership". The word is out, just dont negotiate with the IAM and you'll get a vote on whatever you want. IAM, your paid to represent and do tough things, you've failed. You acted like the spineless worm. You allowed the company to split your union.....big vs. little stations. In short your morally bankrupt garbage.
The IAM will never again be a great union. You have been defeated. At USAirways, at UAL, and soon at Boeing. And I suspect everything they do is to maximize their $$ intake. In short, they are in the business of represention, and like any business, maximize their continued $$ intake....and they did.

You guys give jobs away by the thousands, just look at Mesa, prime example.
ALPA feed their young to the wolves to protect the senior guys.
That is why your RJ represented pilots are suing ALPA national.

I agree, a unions main focus is on their OWN bottm line. Everything else is a side issue. The sooner everyone sees this they can realize that in negotiations you are negotiating not with just your employer but also with your union.ua767fo said:And I suspect everything they do is to maximize their $$ intake. there is no union when they know they can throw nearly 30 stations out the door along with the 600 or so employees. all the union cares about is collect their dues just to satisfy their own personal needs. had the union allowed the outsourcing of catering, the 30 or so affected cities would never had been thrown out the window.diogenes said:Whereas, at the IAM, we are throwing senior employees under the bus (out-stations) to save the junior ones (catering and PHL)
How is that any better?

Exactly. Why do you think the IAM had them revote after they voted to strike the first time? Because the IAM said they were "confused".Seatacus said:I agree, a unions main focus is on their OWN bottm line. Everything else is a side issue.
