Plans for Second Commercial Airport in Metro-Atlanta Moving Forward

ATL is not running out of space. there are more open gates at ATL than there have been for years thanks to both WN's pulldown of operations - 100 fewer flights/day - and DL's use of larger aircraft.... the 717 is now close to becoming more common at ATL than the original CRJ.

NO ONE on the northside of ATL - which includes all the way up to TN - wants another or larger airport in their backyard.

Paulding County airport is the most recent of multiple attempts to grow commercial service in N. Georgia outside of ATL. All the rest have failed for the same reason Paulding County airport and a SINGLE developer will fail - opposition from the public.

It isn't right now.

but it might 40 years from now.

Trying to make it look like it's Delta against the airport?  Delta is 100% against the 2nd airport.  The DOT or some city organization have already opened an investigation to see.  Now you wanna try and say Delta is not against it?   I don't think so...

The DOT is also investigating the developer too.

you missed part.

the people of Paulding county are smarter than the people of Dallas.

They don't want a commercial airport in their backyard. They will succeed. multi-million dollar houses in Dallas have WN's jets taking off 150 times per day as part of the neighborhood. other cities aren't interested in the same thing.

At least you do admit that Delta is being investigated.  I didn't miss any part.  Are they really smarter? Dallas residents enjoy a much cheaper average airfares than the Atlanta residents.  PERIOD...

Dallas residents enjoyED cheaper airfares from DAL because there were no longhaul flights permitted from DAL.

there is no data available showing how airfares have moved since the WA restrictions were lifted. NONE.

Southwest is just as against it as Delta is.....

maybe..... it is sad that WN is running from Atlanta and had to buy the LCC here that lowered those fares.

I see your going to try and pull the same crap.  SWA not running from ATL.  Nice try...

yes, WN has cut dozens of destinations. they have maintained their market share by flying much larger aircraft and their average fares are higher because WN is a higher cost airline than FL.

WN CANNOT compete with DL in markets where WN offers 1/3 or less of the frequencies that DL offers - and DL still will be competitive on price in the markets and on the flights which WN serves.

WN has no future in ATL outside of its core hubs/focus cities which it will operate at frequencies comparable to what DL offers. that is just the way the airline industry works. there is NO example of a carrier that has maintained a presence in a market when it is significantly overshadowed by another carrier. NONE.

and dawg is right that opening up Paulding County to commercial service will expedite WN's demise in ATL.
