Philadelphia International Airport said today it will pay up to $600,000 for permanent works of art to be installed in Terminals D and E as part of a renovation project.

Aviation Director Charles J. Isdell said $250,000 has been allotted for an installation on two escalator walls in a new combined D-E ticketing area, and $350,000 will be spent for an installation in the Terminal E rotunda.

They can't be bothered to freaking clean the floors in Terminals B or C, but the WN terminals get bought some art. We all know where that damn airport's priorities are. Good thing they don't play favorites or anything.

Tell us again--how much money did U screw PHL out of in the first two bankruptcy cases? I'll bet it's more than the art in question.

What goes around does indeed come around, you know.

Sorry I'm not for sale.
Couldn't resist..sorry.
My best to you all...

I don't blame you, Art. They'd need to pay me more than that to hang around in Terminal E with the unwashed masses.

Sorry, but I don't believe PHL was screwed out of any money during this last bankruptcy. As US didn't reject any PHL leases, US would have had to make cure payments for the pre-petition amounts due PHL, and it appears that they in fact arranged to sell PHL their jetbridges to offset the money owed, and US also committed to voting in favor of the D-E Security Expansion. See, for example, here. I apologize that this doesn't fit into your bitter view.

I can't speak as to the first bankruptcy, as those documents don't seem to be easily accessable anymore, but, again, I don't believe US rejected any substantial PHL contracts or leases, so I don't believe they lost a large amount of money.

US was probably better off selling off the jetbridges, let the city maintain those beasts...I know in CLT the city and county were left short changed financially, even though leases were not rejected, user fee's and taxes were never paid. But never one time did the city turn it's back on US, it's just not good business practice.

Do you think the airport would be interested in my vast collection of beer can wind chimes?

Of course, only if they were buying for the market they were meant to serve: hang them all over the Whisky Tango Shuttles Terminals. :p

At the risk of being royally flamed I'd like to know why Organized Labor, The Company & Loyal Customers don't raise holly hell over this.

The B/C councourse looks like an unmade bed at best.

Who is the No 1, Employer at PHL? US or WN?

This is a job security issue and effects all US employees.

PHL's problems go far beyond the US ramp employees. Apparently they extend right into the mayors office and local congressional officials.
BTW, why doesn't someone make that banner that SWA has on the parking garage do an imitation of a bag in PHL and disappear??

Thank you, Bob, at least someone other than me recognizes that it's absolutely ludicrous.

I think that people are just so used to the corrupt PHL airport playing favorites and shitting on US that they don't even notice things like this anymore.

The way to approach this is through the press. Get one of the goofs at the Ink-wire to spend some time ragging on the city for turning its back on LCC.
