PBGC and MERGER

I read the formal excuses that gave an agent in BUF when US and AWA merged. It said, since the "US Airways name survived", even though the actual company was a new version of America West they would be denied. This time US Airways is clearly gone. You can find the BUF precedent on the PBGC website. Like you said N617P they can't have it both ways.

I used that date because i figured all the things both companies had to do for merger completion would be Dec 9. At least thats what the company and the media is saying. I figured it was a safe date to use. He just said that Jan 1 was a good choice. ( My choice not his)
Like i said, i was just staying 1 step ahead of it.

I see now that I looked at the term plan for 2014, not 2003. Wishful thinking, back to the Waffle House chef plan. Xtra hash browns for all retired pilots!

I'll take my hash browns with extra cholesterol please.

What really burns me is that school teachers and sheriffs retire, collect their full pensions, then get hired back at the same job for the same district, and double dip, pension and a full paycheck.  Why is it ok for them? ( because the taxpayers are footing the bill), and not for us????
I know several people that are doing this.
I sure hope we have the final answer to this question by the end of December.

If that burns you up, here's one that will send you to the core of the sun.

I know plenty of Mechanics here that are triple dippin'.  And the only thing stopping them from quadruple dippin' is the price of the company medical plans is cheaper than Medicare.

1) Full paycheck.
2) Social Security.
3) PBGC pension.
and possibly
4) Medicare.

Just think what they make per month as they sit on their tired rears and complain.

At least they get up early and go to a job everyday. Half the country has babies for a living. They enjoy a thousand dollars per child per month, subsidized housing, food stamps, free cell phones and healthcare. Those of us who work out tails off for 30 pulse years can't even get what we've honestly earned.

Just wondering where you're getting this numbers from... Source?

This must be challenged. US Airways is no longer our employer. Next year we start working for the "New American".

"Preliminary assessment", they are trying to pull one and they know it?? ..... This can be won in court!
As soon as the merger closes in just over a week, US Airways and American Airlines will both be wholly-owned subsidiaries of the new parent company.    Your employer will still be US AIrways.   And your employer will remain US Airways until the airlines are actually combined.    That might be a year or more away.

As a pedantic legal matter, even once the two airlines are combined into one, that airline will be the corporate successor to US Airways (and the corporate successor to AA), so if the PBGC requires that you terminate employment to begin collecting your PBGC-guaranteed pension, the PBGC has a fairly good argument that you need to terminate employment from new AA once the airlines are combined in order to begin pay status.

This is total BS.  AFDC--Aid to Families with Dependent Children--aka, cash welfare pays less than $200/mo per child--I suggest you try raising a child on that.  Yes, the family does get Food Stamps, but they have to pay something for them out of the AFDC allotment.  Very few people get food stamps for free.  The free cell phones is news to me.  Exactly which program is providing this?  I'm afraid you're going to have to be specific.  Google produces nothing even approaching this.  So, you are evidently privy to secret information that even the Internet does not have.  Or, is this another Tea Party myth designed to anger people who don't have the mental wherewithal to confirm such baloney before believing it?

Free health care?  Maybe, but why don't you try going down to the emergency room at your local charity hospital and sit for hours waiting for service.  Just see the "lavish" health care wasted on poor people when we should be giving discounts to the rich along with all of their tax breaks that the rest of us don't get.

That article mentioned nothing about $1000/mo/child. Have you read the article? The study from Cato that they cite includes an 'all in' figure- which most families do not qualify for. If you think people on welfare are livin' it up, then what's stopping you? Sounds like it would make financial sense...

The $1000 per month actually requires a little more scamming, involves the foster child program and a good friend.
