777W LAX-SYD with a side of ME3 vs US3 and an interesting "How will AA profits trickle down to the vendors you hire who pay $12/hr to their workers?" Part of DP's response: "I have some empathy for them...It's up to those employees of the vendors to work with their unions..."

So now it's out publicly ... daily 77W LAX-SYD, with QF starting SFO-SYD.

And with that, AA will now be flying LAX-Australia, and by my math, at least, AA will with these adds and the pending EMB175 to MZT have essentially completely closed the gap, if not overtaken Delta, in international capacity out of LAX.
with a start date of Dec 2015 and AA's reduction in capacity to Asia with downgrades on other routes, this probably was necessary to keep AA's 777s flying for now. DL's growth rate for LAX int'l has been double digit for several years and you keep thinking that DL will run out of gate space but they keep adding.

and given that DL has not loaded its LAX-MEX service which will come and will continue to add more of its own service, the gap is just narrowing for the short term.

AA and DL are clearly committed to LAX which is great news.

I'm glad that AA's JV now will include an AA presence of AA metal.

and the $15/hr movement is just as live in LAX as it is elsewhere. How it will affect LAX remains to be seen.

We went from a limited C/S policy to a nonexistent one to the current C/S policy that fits the line stations but not Tulsa.  AA expects us to take vacation time for doctor appointments as well as watching the gate times like a hawk.  Anyone outside the gate for more than 30 minutes is fired.  I remember when AA told the TWU that gate times would not be used for discipline purposes.  Basically when you are at work you are on lockdown.  We have a little bit of flexibility but now there is none.  I would consider this worse than what we had.
Wow,,  why the big crackdown?

Wait remember how someone kept posting how bad the partnership with QF was bad for employees because AA does not fly its own metal to SYD - well it's a tough one to try and spin that away now that AA has its own metal going to SYD

It's amazing how AA continues to grow at LAX - I guess it's not gate constrained

Only Delta is facing severe gate constraints right now.

AA has also started using TBIT for domestic departures - two MIA flights a day.

Seeing how both SBA and MTY are big-money destinations for world-wide passengers, when will SBA and MTY be reinstated from LAX with 2-class E175s?

[1] Nobody has a problem with change when the attempt is to make things better. [2] These changes seemed to be designed to aggravate people so they quit.  [3] Medical insurance premiums have skyrocketed while providing less coverage, [4] Parker and company are looking to outsource all maint. they can. [5] (I know that doesn't affect you) and there are lots of changes locally in Tulsa that are not employee friendly.  Meanwhile Parker, Seymore and Isom won't commit to anything that would result in any kind of job future for any OH mechanic. [6]  I honestly can't think of a single thing that has come along since the merge that has been a good thing.  But I am an AMT and the New American has already made it clear they want as many of us gone as they can push out the door. [7] They'll go after you and the rest of Fleet Service next.
[1] In what way? Back to the days of the endless fountain of free flowing cash for just showing up? In this age when productivity can, and always have been measured, on the effect to the bottom line, the bean counters can and will dictate whether there will be a sustainable workforce (a workforce with salary and benefits and perks) that drain profits, or a workforce that is bought for a flat rate.
[2] The only aggravating part is the fact that you can't afford to retire! That nice prefunding check you got was probability spent two days after you got it. I personally have excepted the fact that I will have to work till I reach 70. I also could say that only 3% of all TWU members saves enough to continue their way of living after retiring.
[3] News Flash: Its that way for everyone in this country. And nothing can be done about it, so add that to your expenses when your paycheck from American stop. And one more thing, don't run out to get that new car or fancy new house, you need every penny at the finish line.

[4] True, and do you know reason for this? Our fleet has a lot of young aircraft mixed in. What scene would it make to keep 4000 (example only) top dollar people to do "A" checks, the need isn't there. And when is is time for heavy checks and over haul, it will be outsourced.
Here is a example, would you bring your car in to the dealer where you bought it for regular service, or would you find a competent, shop to perform the work at a third of the cost for the same services that the dealer would do?
[5] It doesn't effect fleet negatively, its a benefit. What company would pay close to $40/hour to have the AMT to push and tow, brake ride, and deice, shifting work to fleet didn't help you guys and I see other work that may be done by us in the distant future.
[6] Everyone has had since 2003 to wake up and smell the coffee. Don't try to save a terminally ill profession, just concentrate on getting yours and get out.
[7] Yes they will, and I predict within the next five years fleet will only occupy LAX,DFW,ORD,JFK and MIA. "Remember Flight Plan 2020"?
AAL would love to have everyone except pilots and flight attendants outsourced. But that is far into the future.

You plan on doing engine changes, Bob?  Boroscopes maybe?
Seems you are frothing at the mouth to do more mechanics' work at expense of getting rid of mechanics.....
So what do YOU see fleet doing in the future? But of course YOUR job is safe....
Hey maybe in the far future, YOU can ride the right the right seat in one them 787's along side of a Captain who would just love to have ya there.....
Plan on signing any aircraft releases, Bob?

But, hey, the TWU had no problem shifting that work to fleet in the past. Why should it be any different now?

Whats the   'km'....Lax/Syd,..............AND...............whats the range of a fully loaded.......777-300er.....or do we/AA just have the 777-300 ?
I forgot which -300 we have !   ( My BAD).

you've used that argument about as long as you have been arguing for MIA-NRT which has yet to happen and DL is still growing at LAX.

DL has identified plans to grow its facilities there if it needs to.

DL is NOT boxed in and isn't going to play second fiddle at LAX to AAnyone in the most important markets.

Yet DL for the year so far is third in revenue, AA/US is #1, followed by UA, then DL in third.

AA/US #1 Airline at LAX.

I have never argued about total revenue.

I have talked about INTERNATIONAL REVENUE. Delta is the largest international carrier at LAX.

I've heard that before too.

DL still has its chance to announce its next round of new service.

and I'm still far from convinced that LAX-GRU will last in its present form for long.
