That's why we have labor unions....Hate seeing Hard Working Honest People getting screwed.
As noted in my previous postings on this matter, the vast majority of drunk driving accidents involving death or injury are committed by habitual offenders who are more than twice over the legal limit, not someone who happens to have a few too many at a social function. If Doug blew a .20 or higher, I could see not having much sympathy for him, but as he was just over the limit and did not hurt anyone, he deserves our sympathy.
Sorry, I just cant muster up the "support" for this drunk. He played Russian Roulette with his Beemer and his Beer. Too many innocent people have been the victim's of those like him. The bleeding hearts of those who plead for support for this kind man are almost as guilty, by being an enabler to mindless freaks like DP. He got off way too easy.
Please! Let's keep the event in perspective. .01 over the limit is probably less dangerous than talking on the freaking cellphone or putting on make-up while driving! The event, while stupid, is being way over dramatized! How many of us could serve a day in jail for talking on our cellphones or applying eye liner while driving? Any guesses?
Have you heard where he and Bubba are registered? Now that more than half his term has been served, do you think he can get out on parole for good behavior?
His actions, whether minor or major in your eyes damaged his reputation, his company's reputation, his ability to lead and a host of other things. It creates the appearance of a double standard. I wish him well, truly I do. He made a major mistake IMO one that has huge potential ramifications for everyone involved with US Airways.
Hopefully his day will provide him time for reflection and we will never hear of this type of thing again. Perhaps he and his Palace Guard will develop a little more humility.
