Parker Is Serving His Sentence Today

He isn't in tent city. I believe it is the Scottsdale City Jail, but it could be in any jail in Maricopa County.

With a good reason, sentences needing to be served can be somewhat negotable. For cause shown, people can agree to serve their sentence at a least disruptive time to their schedule as long as the facillity can accomodate the rescheduling and the judge enters the Order. The prosecution would have received whatever Motion was filed by the defense attorney and would have had a chance to respond to anything sought from the Court by the defendant.

I would surmise that this was all worked out at the time that the guilty plea was entered in so far as the defense would have had an understanding with the prosecution that some form of rescheduling of the jail sentence to a more appropriate date would be submitted and that the prosecution would not oppose such a Motion presented to the Court. This is consistent with the report that the Judge signed the appropriate Order on Thursday for the sentence to be served on Saturday. Also, remember that from the Court's perception this has been an easy case since the Defendant plead guilty. Therefore, there was likely no compelling reason for the Judge to interfere with any Motion or Stiplulation regarding the specifics of serving the sentence.

Speaking not from first hand but second knowledge, DUI "Day In Jail" Sentences are often scheduled. At least in PA where my late step-father was concerned.
I said in previous post that he'd serve on a weekend day. The courts are willing to work around ones work schedule. I have a friend that was sentenced for 30 days and he served them 2 days every other weekend. He was able to get the every other weekend in there cause the judge let him be able to get his 2 children. He got his DUI on the 1st offense, but he had property damage which led him to the 30 days in. Judges are generally willingly to accommidate something like this, especially if its a first offense. Also he is living up to his mistake, the main thing is that he didn't injure or kill any body else. I just hope that this will be the last, we are all human and prone to mistakes.

For the good of the Company, I believe All US Employees should show him support. He and His family are going thru alot right now, with all the press coverage. I agree that he should have used commonsense prior, but sometimes when a person drinks, it is hard to know when. There are many of us who go over to a friends house have a beer or two then drive. Think nothing of it. Prior to states lowering the limit, he would have been legal. But the law has changed so everyone must obide by that.

Could I have my death sentence postponed until I turn 95, that would be alot more convenient for me.

Does US really need a Media Day?

Why should employees support him. He does NOT support the employees.

It has to start somewhere. Hopefully he will see the change in attitude the employees and that can work for the better. I will say this, just do your job correctly, do nothing more than you are supposed to do and do nothing less. If everyone would do that, they'd change in a minute. Be United! Unity, Union it all becomes one. The company does not want to see its employees in Unity, then they know they control you. But if you are all United, then things turn to your favor. It's not going to happen overnight, and it won't be easy. But that is the way to doing that. First you need to put STRONG Representation in the key positions, some one who won't back down after their first meal with management. They have to know that the employees are behind him/her and he/she has to be behind the employees, not whats on his/her personal agenda, what the employee's agenda is. And here is the best way, GET INVOLVED. Go to meetings, voice your opinion. That is the place where it should be voiced. Everyone has to get involved, you are paying union dues, get your money's worth. Management tries to maintain a division amongst its workforce, just as long as it doesn't affect the operations. Then that is when its get close to grounds of being fired. But that's not the way for it to go. Even if its starts out as a "Bowling Night" or "Darts, Pool", something along that line. It will take time, but everybody just has to know that things will not change overnight, it will take time. The company has to see that its employees are United, and that the Employee is in it for the long run.

Your dreaming to much!!!!! Come back to reality.

Sorry, I just cant muster up the "support" for this drunk. He played Russian Roulette with his Beemer and his Beer. Too many innocent people have been the victim's of those like him. The bleeding hearts of those who plead for support for this kind man are almost as guilty, by being an enabler to mindless freaks like DP. He got off way too easy.

Joe, in this era of mega mergers, consoldiation, taking public companies private, etc., the only thing your suggestion will bring is tire marks over the employees. These folks don't understand decent, nor do they understand good deeds or doing something because it is the right thing to do. They understand money. They understand that if people will do "x", then they will probably do "y".

SpinDoc replies:

Your position is rather extreme. While I don't drink and drive, nor would I accept a ride with someone who is over the limit, we have laws that are designed to deal with the actions of people who choose to break the law. Doug made a mistake, did not hurt anyone but himself in the process, and has received the appropriate adjudication for his offense.

As noted in my previous postings on this matter, the vast majority of drunk driving accidents involving death or injury are committed by habitual offenders who are more than twice over the legal limit, not someone who happens to have a few too many at a social function. If Doug blew a .20 or higher, I could see not having much sympathy for him, but as he was just over the limit and did not hurt anyone, he deserves our sympathy.

Thanks, but no thanks! No "Parker Punch" for me!

Here are just two "sobering" reasons why Drinking and Driving isn't worth it:
