Official: AMR Bankrupt

There's an old saying... be careful what you ask for. You just might get it.

Well, guys, you got it. Strap yourselves in, it's gonna be rough.

Sorry to have seen things come to this, but it's not for a lack of trying to avoid it.

I hope all AMR employees remember managements attempts to negotiate in good faith with APA to achieve a mutually beneficial contract. We'll likely see lots of changes in the months ahead and I can't imagine they will be particularly customer or employee friendly. I wish AMR employees and their families the very best.

Thats the first thing out of your mouth? Wow,....... your Pavlovian response is (really) no surprise.

If anyone cares to recall history as it happened, AMR opened early with APA, then never showed up at the table. When they did, their "good faith" solution to a pilot contract included the ability to outsource and codeshare away every job on the property. Hardly the architecture required to conclude a contract with the APA.

Arpey is a man with no vision or leadership skills. He steered AMR onto the rocks. I'm glad he's gone.

I have some questions for the union leadership..

To the pilots...are you guys still MULLING over the company's last offer? Are you still expecting that 21% raise on top of the 10% lump sump?

To the TWU......are you guys still going to petition the NMB to release us? (hahahahahahhaha)

My local leadership has ACTUALLY stated that we are better off in BK......These arseholes are dreaming.

Ok, So now what?

Well for starters, the following could apply immediately:

- Your 5 weeks planned vacation GONE
- 5 more holidays GONE
- Any hope of a contract for overhaul mechanics GONE
- Slugs in the workplace GONE
- Pension Plan GONE
- Prepaid medical GONE WITHOUT PAYBACK
- Paid Sick Leave account GONE

Dust off your monster.com account, update your resume, get a real JOB. The fantasy is over.

Uhm, you did mean pain(lessly) right?
oops, yes.

there are a number of links to resources from AA regarding the process... some other carriers did similar things.

The Southern District of NY is where DL and NW among others filed..

if there is any chance for AA to successfully restructure, it has to start w/ burying the hatchet and ending the blame game. The enemy is the process and your competitors, not your coworkers and mgmt.

Good luck to all the employees.

Please do not become another Eastern because the warning signs are present now...

Not quite...ALL the EAL unions sute tha airline down with a strike....EAL was never able to recover....AA unions have not struck and will now be sucking a BK judhes arse to preserve what they have..

There was nothing to mull. There is only so much you can do. The union has brought in many many consultants and based upon their recommendation we are better fighting in bankruptcy court rather than give away the farm then get even less in bankruptcy court. I'm glad you are not negotiating for our group.

Are you for real? The farm is under water my friend....You guys risk losing alot of flying to Eagle.....
Fighting in BK court? With a judge whose charge is to get the company operating viably? Appease creditors?

We are all at risks, but I would say that the pilot group is going to take it in the shorts the worst.
