Now It's Confirmed!

Scoles,
Any 3 or 4 year degree (arts or science) from a Canadian university should do the job. As I understand you need a degree to become an officer in the forces so either through them or on your own. I think doing it on your own gives you some more options, specifically early exit. As far a flight time...it's not a requirement just the degree, but showing some interest in the field can only help. Go talk to a recruiter though, they will give you a handful of info with no strings attached.

The "Continuing Education Officer Training Plan" is currently open for pilot. You do not need a degree for this program....

My application is under the Continuing Education Officer Training Plan. It's a good deal - jump right into the job and have 9 years to complete a degree.

Ironman, like everyone else I would like to congratulate you. I know exactly what it's like to wait for the call, and when it comes it's well-deserved. I returned from Aircrew Selection about a month ago. I passed everything and was told there was a good chance I'd be selected for Basic in January, same as you. However, I later learned that my file wasn't sent until the week after the selection for January! So now I am waiting for the next selection board which I was told would be in March - quite a long time from now! But hey, when I get the call (if I do) the wait will be well worth it. As for Basic, take it one day at a time. Consider it a game. You are becoming part of a team, and use your team for support, morale, and encouragement. Relax when you get the chance. Prepare for long days. But in all, keep your mind on what you'll be doing when the "game" is over. Know that things get mentally easier after time goes on. This is what I did when I went through Basic with the Army Reserve and, even though it was tough, it worked for me. Cangratulations again.

:p Doh!!!!

Sorry, I'm not used to it!!!!!! :D

But you're right I will be more careful next time. :p

Don't speak too fast. My understanding is that the majority of new pilots end up in Griffons flying for the army. Living in tents, etc...

Demon. As a Griffon pilot, I am not sure if I should be offended or not. Although our new flight suits are green, our hats are still blue....

No 5 star hotels nor Hot crew lunches for us, but the canvas is dry and the flying is (usually) great... when we have enough serviceable aircraft to actually fly!

Cheers!

Don't dash all of his hopes of flying something other than a helicopter. There's always a chance that Ironman could get to fly fast air or a multi-engine turbo-prop.

There are a lot of helo slots but if you get lucky and impress the grown-ups you can get what you want, who knows you may want to become a helo pilot?

Have fun and enjoy what the systems gives you 'cause it's all good.

Achhh, it didn't work. Oh well.

   Well Hello to everyone!!!!!

THAT'S IT THE FIRST STEP IS COMPLETED!!!!!!!! :D

Next week will be the last one and I will be commissioned as a SLT!!!

Now it's just waiting to get all the info as when I will be shipped to Portage. All I know for now is I have to get my second language rating before getting any order concerning the flight training.

It's really good to be again in the real world!!! 15 weeks of training in St-Jean is really hard  but can be done.

I hope to fly real soon because it's been approximately 8 months since I haven't fly.........and I miss the feeling of being up there so much....but the next step is coming and now this will be the real thing!!!!!

If someone need info about the training in St-Jean..anything just let me know!!! :D

Anything you can tell about St. Jean would be great. I got my call about a month ago and transferred from the Army to the Air Force (bye-bye Green, hello beautiful Blue!!!) on 31 Mar for a Pilot position. However, I have to do basic over again - the May course is full so I work at a recruiting center until September and go to IAP and BOTP until 17 Dec. Any pointers? I also heard pilots are having to do on-job-training until a course opens up in Portage and Moosejaw...is this true? If so, how long? Not that I mind any of these delays...I am just so relieved to have gotten in! Congratulations on finishing IAP and Basic.
