I was in CFB Greenwood doing my airplane training. The premier of NS was dropped off my the province's controversial King Air. He and his wife were there to welcome Princess Anne as she stopped enroute. A brand new MD500E came in to pick him up. All the other air cadets wer drooling over the King Air and I was alone checking out the helicopter. It turned out that the 500 was on the wrong side of the airfield and I ended up tagging along for the ride.

That did it. Airplanes were just not that fun after that flight.

Talked to Kris R just before he left for the wet coast with stuff for his kid who lives out there. I think he is planning on moving back out to BC but I don't know how he will be able to move all the L19s and stuff from St Albert :p :p
 
I can't remember when I learned to fly, but people tell me I have been flying all skinds of things ever since they can remember.

Next to screwing nothing beats a helicopter, that much I can remember.

Actulally I can fly longer than I can screw come to think of it so maybe flying is better. :up:

I got past the fifty year mark a couple years ago so I'm told and though what the hell lets see if I can make a hundred years as a pilot......

So I guess I'm hooked .

Anyone ever remember DIRTY Harry Nawranski, always carried a 45' and a roll of salami in his tool box (not sure on spelling of last name). Okie engineer at Penticton and eventually out of YYR on 61's during late 70's and early 80's.

I remember Capt Smalluk. Bob Libby and Martin Mainville (SP?).
They all worked in James Bay at various times. (Late 70's - Early 80's )
I heard Bob left the business. Just found his photo in an old photo album when I was home last time. Lac Denise winter 78 or 79 I think.
Martin found the body Benny dropped ( Long story )
Have not heard of them since.

"Dirty Harry" Niwranski (or at least the name, and how many of them can there be??) showed up on justhelicopters.com a few months ago, he seems to be selling Helicopter parts in Bellingham Washinton USA, just across the border from Vancouver BC.
Check Heli Parts International out here, see how much he's charging for a good used roll of Kielbasa... :D
 
The last time that I saw Harry, He was in ACRO's garbage dumpster collecting parts and hardware into the back of his pickup truck. <_<

Smalluck ...that name is familliar. I met a guy with that last name flying J.B. Airs Koala....last summer. He was a real friendly guy, let me crawl all over the Koala....wondering if this is the same guy? :)
 
while i'm not a driver, the names that i remember most over the years are ted janzen, bruce reilly, lorne beecroft, jim aspinall, brooke ede, pieter koster, paul kendall, bob johnson, lance and rocky cooper, k.o., kris reynolds, leon marchenski, john and al from buffalo airways in ft simpson(1977), lynn appleby...
 
Got tired of picking rocks watching armed forces dudes flying outside wainwright. Big Al had a big job ahead but we had fun and learned a few gazzilion thing from him, still am.

Dryden 18...ah yes...was working for Kenting as a graunch/ pilot...with Gerry Flesher, Dooley Ross, Jim Lewis and Curly Wayland...we had a S-58 piston banger and Jimmy had a 2x5...got some stick time on the 58 when Dooley found out I had a drivers licence...KO would have killed him...I was fresh out of Canadore (72-74) pilot/eng course...last thing I had flown was a G4A in North Bay...50 guys had started the course..with names like Sullivan,Smallman,Malcomb,Hahn,Hall,Franklin,Carrier,Laamenen,Leduc,Ja
ieson...better Known as ....sensored....Perron,Reny,....I could name them all ....went to work for Ken Mazara...got to know Kim and Robin O...Big John Flesher who I worked with for many years at Midwest....my interest in choppers started back in the 60's when a G-2 flew in to our little town and stopped at the only gas station in town and said filler up with Hightest...this guy was just cool...not to mention that beautifull Bell iron..the rest is as they say history.... :D ;)
 
First flight was in a 206 A, that was with Roland Mcdonald in St. Albans NFLD in 1974. Was hooked. All I ever wanted to do from that moment was fly helo's. Took a long, long time before got my licence (20 years later). But it was the best thing I ever did. Only regret, what took me 20 flipping years to get my act in gear???????

p.s anyone remember Capt. Jack Wallace the Codfathers personal pilot in late 70's early 80's. He gave me a great flight!!!!
