NON-REV DOH

What I don't get about the argument "for" DOH is why people seem to think that using DOH will guarantee them a seat. There is only one person that will have a 100% guarantee with using DOH, and that's the person with the highest seniority.

Even a 30 year employee could be bumped at the last minute by a 30-year, 2-week employee.
how about same day hire....alphabetically different??

big deal on the east side of town with mech's..... ;)

Well I have read the other thread about DOH/FCFS for nonrevs. Seems like most of that is about crews who may have trouble getting to work. Here is my issue. I have children who need to travel for visitation. And I know there are others like me at USAirways. With FCFS there would have been numerous times they would not have been boarded on flights. Even now with the change to them having to fly one step lower if I am not traveling with them. They will not get on some flights causing them to be stuck in the connecting city. This is of no concern to the company if it does create visitation problems. I sent my concern to the ROW 23 e-mail when the lower step was put in last fall when the rest of my family failed to be boarded on flights. As you can see family issues are not a concern of this or any past management. I can understand the folks at HP's concern. But senority should count for something since we have nothing left. 24 years here.

I hate to say this if it's already been said but don't have time to read the whole thread. First of all your children ALWAYS flew one step below you when not traveling with you. I know--I was divorced while working at US and many times my kids got stuck in places because of my seniority--they didn't fly at my level but in their own level they flew on my seniority. At HP they also have always flown one step below me when traveling by themselves. The only difference is they now know they have to get their tails to the airport early for the flight and they usually get on. Here's how the priority goes without using sa1 sa2--etc. First are almost confirmed passangers --confirmed seating flying on vacations--employees. 2nd are people flying due to emergency travel--actually I believe this should be first and I would gladly give up my seat to anyone traveling due to emergency travel if I were on vacation--I know how it feels to get there in time. 3rd employee. 4th dependents and those on my benefit list. So what's so different???

Wrong,

On US/East metal until the merger children flying alone flew the same as the employee.

I should know, I had a stepdaughter who use to fly into SYR twice a month to visit her dad.

At US/East employees, dependants, parents and retirees all use to fly on the same priority. It was changed for retirees almost two years ago, and then the rest was changed when the merger took place.

At no time did children flying or the spouse flying alone ever fly below the same priority as employees.

My opinion: FCFS evens the playing field and makes more people happy. I've worked under both ways. (TWA was DOH).

Wasn't it great when you showed up, listed, got boarded, did everything by the book, only to be yanked off the airplane five minutes before departure by a family traveling on some retiree's 1960 seniority?

And they just stand there and grin at you, laughing, knowing they didn't have to rush 'cause "Daddy has everyone beat" and they'll always snag a seat.

That is not US policy and I have never heard of that happening.........once a nonrev is boarded another nonrev cannot bump you.

welcome to the AIRLINES...AS IT HAS BEEN AS FAR BACK AS I GO (DOH).

Um, so American and Southwest are not Airlines? They have always used FCFS and it works for them. American is the largest US airline and southwest the most successful LCC in the country. Since we want to be the largest LCC it seems plain to me that we should do it their way!!! The East sense of entitlement has got to end.

At AA Pilots use DOH.

No sense of entitlement, we can say you Westies feel entilted to FCFS.

Which ever is fair or not....from Parker's mouth...both us and hp were ready for the coffin.

Um, amazing how nothing was ever said about HP being in the coffin until AFTER the merger was announced. IMHO it was "made up" to try and placate the hard working folks in PHX.

Never happens once boarded you can only be taken off for revenue passengers. Get facts straight
