No More Pretzels

This is US' way of improving customer service. No checked bags means no lost baggage. Which in turn means no lost luggage. That's like Parker performing a one car funeral, it'll be a disaster.
It may be cheaper to Fed Ex them to your destination, at least it will get there. But I can see some of these Europeans connecting with all their belongings on two Carts. Maybe the A321 will make PHL-SFO/LAX without a fuel stop.

That darn fuel stop, what a pain in the ARCE...

As for all of the airlines "Getting Together" and rasing fares, they would indeed "Get Together" in the Federal Penitentiary as price fixing and colusion is against the law.

How come when all of the airlines lower their fares at the same time, nobody screams "collusion"?

. Either we arent charging customers on refundable tickets either or the computer was whacked..
Would be interesting to know and hopefully this is the case even though this category is not listed as being exempt.

Geez, what's next, charge for infants? What US Airways should do is charge the passenger by their weight , multiply by the mileage that they are flying which would equal the fare. How much weight does an aircraft carry of pretzels? If they are too heavy, hand out potato chips. They buy bulk so each one costs them 5 cents? A passenger paying $500 for their ticket and can't hand out a 5 cent bag. Charge the US execs for their travel, damn Free-Loading scum. I think I drank too much Folgers today.

Whats next. Will everyone match? I just cant think of flying without the stale snacks.

From CNN
Story Highlights
US Airways to eliminate free snacks in coach class starting June 1

Cut was needed to save money in a time of extremely high fuel costs, airline said

The airline is still providing complimentary soft drinks

Anybody else amazed at how much press this move received? You would think we took the lavs off.

It was mentioned in the opening few minutes of the Today show.

The bad press could be another instance of the "high cost of cheap" that Piney Bob often discusses.

I bought the $5 snack box. I thought it made some sense. But get rid of the sugary apple sauce gooo and give me more cheese.

But you've got to make it easier to buy. Let me buy it with FF miles taken from my FF card...... say 300 miles?

Why is it never mentioned in ANY news article be it television or print that OTHER airlines out there have axed the snacks prior to this? I don't get it. Airlines are in cost cutting mode but we can't do ANYTHING shy of raising fares which obviously can't be done. The public will pay 50 cents for a lime or 85 cents for a lemon or around $3.00 for a gallon of milk. If only people would freak over other types of business cutting amenities or adding fees. How about restaurants out there that will start serving smaller portions due to rising food costs? Boycott TGI Fridays shall we?

Ooohhhh yeah, I agree. That berry apple sauce is gross. More cheese and salty foods would be good. Whoever comes up with the snack boxes must really have a sweet tooth!

As for the snack thing, there was an article in the Charlotte Observer and it has been on the local news in NC and SC. They even did the story where they asked what US Airways would be eliminating next and the choices were food, beverages, or magazines. They did this at the beginning of the news program and then they said to stay tuned. Then in the middle of the program they showed the question and answers and eliminated magazine and said to guess again that the magazine is here to stay. Oh and of course they showed dramatic scenes of the CLT airport and of travelers. Then at the end of the news hour they showed the answer and said we were getting rid of pretzels. Then they made a joke that people would keep having to insert quarters into the seat back in order to stay in the air. I can't believe the snack thing made it national TV like on the Today Show. It's no big deal since the pretzels were stale, you only got a few per bag, and most people don't eat them. I've told pax that starting June 1st we won't have pretzels anymore. Nobody has complained to me when I told them. I'm sure many are expecting it with all the other cuts.
