No Free Coffee on US Airways

That’s cool, as long as everybody is on the same page making sure the elites in Y don’t have to pay for a coke. Is this the published procedure?

This post goes out to all the hopeless sinners, and pilferers of obsolete galley supplies.
I don't think that is the procedure, but it should be. They should have the Pref's flash their card like BMI does, for comped drinks. Many of us try to recognize the elites as much as possible because the product has been devalued so much.

I think the point was that the $2 charge wasn't met with as much disdain as anticipated....

Most of my pax didn't want anything and a few were grumpy about it.

Some felt sorry for the f/a's in general for all the extra work the company was putting on us.

And then there was this guy from New Jersey. Who used this as an opportunity to belly ache about everything including the fact we don't have Airphones anymore. Lord, I haven't heard that complaint in years.
The guy was trying to get everyone riled up. But he paid for a drink...in quarters.

I'm taking a water test kit with me on my next flight and actually see how clean the water is...For Real...
Oh really??? What did you do before the genius that invented bottled H2O??

you drank the water that was supplied by the ground trucks right???

So whats the big deal now.... just give them that water...... its free..... put a few ice cubes in it...

not really a new concept

Did PHL LAX this morning w/ no complaints (that I heard of).

Did moderate business. Water bottles seem to be the the big sellers.

Went pretty well.

Had one guy buy so many beers he almost paid for the flight by himself-and he wasn't complaining.

Still free up front.

So far so good.
Good luck with the new program.... I hope we ( AA ) starts to do the same...... sorry times are tough !!! That will end.. " Can I get a water, coffee and tomato juice "

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THE NEW SERVICE !!!!!

For the first time, we had NO LINE in the bathrooms and we didn't have any complaints.
Passengers were informed in reservations and gate areas.

Most people brought their own drinks and food on the plane.

We were talking about it on the flight today and we were reading MIKE FLORES' interview in the paper how disastrous it was. What a fool ! MIKE FLORES, You don't speak for the flight attendants.

We love this new system. IT WAS EASY!!!!

Let me see here.

Projected $40 million a year revenue gain

minus losses and costs to operate

minus lost revenue from booking away

just doesn't seem to make up a (supposed) loss of $2 billion per year (your numbers).

It would be far better for US to buy up kiosks to sell those items within the security areas, but then, once your passengers realize they are being shaken down, they will go out of their way to avoid you.

edit: oops problem
And as I've stated earlier, if passengers start booking away, a la carte will be discontinued.. Projected gains from all service fees are $500-600 million per year. Worked another drama free day today.. LAS-DFW-LAS.. Full flights and made about $200.00 in beverage sales.. $150.00 of that being non-alcoholic beverage sales.. Also passed out many USAirways Visa applications to many "unhappy passengers".

We sold almost $125.00 on beverage sales today and possibly more if we had the credit card machines. Alegiant and Spirit already sells beverages and they seem to be doing fine.

If this is going to save our jobs, I don't mind it and it was sooo easy. I think once the other airlines start seeing that we are making a profit, they are going to follow us.

I'm not a big environmentalist mainly due to ignorance but I've become very aware of the crap that we dump into our waterways. At the hospital, we pour out all IV meds into the sink. Narcotics, anti-psychotics, everything. There should be a law against this.
What kind of a hospital do you work at where they dump narcotics down the sink? IV bags with maintenence fluids or antibiotics added go down the sink but narcotics? Ours are given IM or PO and if they are IV push and the patient doesn't get the full amount and it is wasted into a special cylindar and documented. In addition, the only narcotics IV are PCA pumps and that is strictly monitored and charted.

PLEASE don't use the word "we" and speak for those of us that do NOT love this system.

I didn't realize that drinks brought on to the plane were not metabolized the same way as drinks served on the plane. Bring your own drinks and you don't have to use the bathroom! Wow!

Oh, please. You never had a grumpy pax before this?

And , what extra work are you talking about? Word on the street is that bev services in Y are lasting about 5-10 minutes. That gives you about 45 more minutes to read or plan your commute home to PIT!

Say what you will, Tempe executed this one correctly....
