No Free Coffee on US Airways

I just got back from the grocery store with a big package of chicken. The only question is marinade it for the Weber grill, or use my Airbus mitts with the smoker grill?

Yinz guys decide for me!

This post goes out to all the hopeless sinners, and pilferers of obsolete airline property.

Just grab the butter and lemon and broil it in the oven ;)

So what, you have a bunch of PO'd FF members.

That doesn't mean you can run an airline.

Fuel is expensive. Buying sodas suck, but that's life isn't it? I think too many people here wanted the pax to be angry, and are now angry because the pax aren't.

Go figure

Pretty much sums it up. The people on here were thirsty for general anarchy, and now that that has not happened whatsoever, what next?

It's $2, folks. Not the end of the world....

Believe me.. if passengers start booking away in droves because US charges $2.00 for a can of soda, they'll discontinue a la carte faster than you can shake a stick.. Worked BOS-LAS today with no problems or drama.. Sold about $200.00 of non-alcoholic beverages.
I agree. If it becomes a huge problem and pax revolt, they will change it. In one of the focus meetings, didn't Isom said they were looking into reversing some of the DM changes as well?

Seems Tempe did a good job of implementing this one: People knew about it, crews were properly briefed, and it went off without too much drama. Seems to me the selling of food a few years back was much more dramatic.

Actually, the point is these people DON'T know how to run an airline, so they are nickel and diming wherever possible.

They are facing costs that other airlines are NOT facing because they never finished the merger.

They are facing a more hostile work group than those at other airlines because they never finished the merger.

There were plenty of ways they could have cut down on costs without having to resort to these tactics, but they chose the easy way out--stepping over dollars to pick up pennies.

NO other major airline has matched the charge for drinks OR the devaluations of the mileage program. People ARE pissed, and they ARE booking away. Time will tell how much if any effect it has, but based on what I have heard there ARE people in Tempe who are concerned.

I am NOT preaching doom and gloom, I am just saying that IF US recovers, it will have a more difficult time than others because it faces a backlash from BOTH customers and employees.

The current management team has to go. PERIOD. They have no credibility with their customers OR their employees, and that is crucial to success.

So fuel has nothing to do with it? Please.

I am NOT preaching doom and gloom,
:mf_boff: Thanks for the laugh. Good one.

While I agree US has done things to devalue its FF program, and has driven away many customers, this thread is about the fact that the much anticipated anarchy and sheer chaos that you and others predicted for yesterday simply did not occur. At all. Admit it. Tempe prepared for this one.

Word around the Sandcastle is Dougweiser is trying to get rid of the dead weight and worthless management but little does he realize it's him that has to go.

Come on folks, where are all the stories of chaos? Sheer anarchy? People flipping out over $2 cokes, having to be restrained, diversions, empty flights, protests, angry mobs, etc?

Sharktooth, Cluebyfour & PB must not have traveled yet, give them time....

Blasphemy! Even during the harshest of winter weather here in flyover country I am still the Grillmaster General.

Anyhow, I’m not really surprised customers don’t seem upset about paying for a Coke. They’re leisure travelers, Tempe’s recipe for success. One know, like one of those crappy recipes that call for pouring store-bought sauce over chicken, baking it in the oven and calling it BBQ.

*gasp* What blasphemy you lips doeth speak.

As long as it ain't Costco branded sauce I'm cool with the Emeril Lasage "Bam" patent trademarked sauce they sell in food stores :)

Nope, I had plenty of US1/2/3/ onboard yesterday, in coach. Went thru and offered them comped drinks, and many of them even offered to pay. No problems making change, just really a non-event, for the FF's and the Kettles, if you will....

I know it hurts, but it was simply no big deal. It's $2. No outbursts, no "I hate you", no.... nothing. Even from the CHPRs.......

I'll just sit there and start whimpering and crying when you say it's $2 for a Bloody Mary without the Booze :(

I think we're all making a mountain out of a molehill here. I just did a 4 hour flight, went through twice with the cart. People bought if they wanted, otherwise slept. I truely think Americans expect a pay-as-you-go product. They will, however take it if it's free. I do have to say, it was one of the most 'drama free' flights to the west coast I've ever worked. I mean, if I want a soda from the hotel I'm at, I'm gonna feed money into the vending machine....right?

OH..and FWIW, the lines at the bathrooms were non existant...

That’s cool, as long as everybody is on the same page making sure the elites in Y don’t have to pay for a coke. Is this the published procedure?

Hey there is a side beni to all of this.
If people use the LAVs a lot less they will break less and that MX savings may be much bigger then any bev sale?
