New Uniforms

Yesterday was the first day with the new uniform. I was wearing the pants, tucked in blue blouse, and the vest. It was comfortable, however, I kept having to tuck in my shirt, as it came untucked when I did the service. Eveytime I got back to the galley I noticed my shirt buched up around my apron strap. I washed everything before I got alterations, and that helped a lot I think. I used Dryel for the pants, skirt, etc. It worked well and is an affordable alternative to drycleaning. My shirts are still kinda stiff, so I think I need to wash them a few more times before I wear them again.
In PHL I noticed some of my co workers were wearing the zip sweaters, but they were zipped up and skin tight with the bottom unzipped (to make room for their hips). It did not look good at all. I saw one F/A with the dress on and it looked good but she was tiny. I was working with a girl that was wearing the tailored top, and when she closed the overheads, up could see her tummy. I am 5'3" and ordered the regular. When I tried mine on when I got home yesterday, it slides up passed my waist as well with my pants, but my skirt fits a little higher and it is fine with that combo. Make sure when you get dressed, you lift your arms up before you leave your house to check the fit!
Other than that, it is better than what we had and for those who ordered the correct size, it looks good.

I wore the light blue short sleeved top and the Maytag zip jacket with the pants. I like the pants. The old ones ran up to my belly button!! Who wears their pants that high?? After taking them off I would have elastic lines etched into my skin for an hour. The blouse was ok but I had the back of it coming untucked when I bent down. I regret buying the white blouses as they are VERY stiff. I thought the striped ones are too "busy". So, I will buy more blue ones shortly. I loved the Maytag jacket. It has deep inside pockets so I can fit my iPhone inside and doesn't look bulky. My one complaint with the jacket is that there is no holes for the wings. I have screw backed wings. The inside of the jacket has the silk-like lining. Am I supposed to mash my wings through that? Won't that start fraying the liner over time? What did you guys do?

After reading some posts I thought I would share some insight and answer a few questions to help those who may be having uniform issues.

the zip jacket does have grommet holes for your wings to be placed. If yours do not, I would call THill and get a replacement. Yes, I agree about the silk lining, that has been addressed to THill.

The women's blouses, if ordered the wrong size, it could show midriff. At the fit line in PHX, we had FAs raise their arms as if they were closing overhead bins. If they showed midriff, we advised them to order the next size up. Ex. if they tried on a petite and it was too short go to a Regular, Regular then order a Tall.

The petite skirts: can be too short on some individuals, the approved uniform apperance guidelines, 1" above or below the kneecap. This also pertains to the dress. If it does meet those guidelines, suggest to again call THill and reorder the appropriate size.

Zip sweaters, again if it does not look appropriate due to wrong size ordered. Call THill and exchange for the next size up.

Per the Uniform and Appearance Expectation handbook :page 4-43 section4.14.1.4
If an item has been incorrectly tailored, it will be your responsibility to re-alter or replace it, at your own expense.

Today I am wearing the vest, white shirt, pants, and red, white, and blue scarf. I will admit I feel more like a flight attendant in this uniform than in the light blue sweater set. I felt too casual in it. However, I received many compliments on it. The pax are really noticing our new uniforms. I wish they were better quality but I still like it better than what I was wearing before.

This is me in my new uniform. I think I look pretty bangin if I do say so myself.

I remember you, you offered me a cookie to let you check USAv using my BlackBerry.
Why haven't you called back? I was devastated. I thought we had something.
I thought you were different !!

I am bringing my camera to work tomorrow so that I can get shots of people in the new uniform. I'll blur out the faces of the unwilling as suggested, but be it known that if you are going to CLT tomorrow - - any time - - and your chest hair is sticking out - - or your butt is hanging out - - i will know. And I will post it. I have spies everywhere. Muuuhahahahahaha......pictures will be published unapologetically LATE thursday night or early Friday morning.

International Shannon,
Here is the picture of us my friend took. He caught us in the act on La Rambla in BCN. Thanks for making my vacation memorable. (I took East metal from SAN-PHL, PHL-BCN, and had a great time. Chatted with a CA on the way to PHL, and was upgraded FREE to BCN. Thanks, Easties! Love ya!) IS, we'll have to go out on a date. I think I might pick up a 24 hr CLT if you'll be around. Just don't tell your husband... or my boy.
