New lanyards

This thread just amazes me. Not that it exists at all, or that the employees are right or that management is right, but because of the posts. Yes, some of the posts are relevant and thought out, but I'm rather appalled at the maturity (specifically the lack of) from most. Even sadder is most of those immature posts appear to be coming from pilots, the ones that are supposed to have the most responsibility.

Look in your contracts and see what it says about union paraphernalia. If it says you can wear "XYZ Union" lanyards, you can. If it doesn't the company can dictate it as part of the uniform, it's that simple.

How many lanyards is one allowed to wear? How much of the lanyards (made in China) must be displayed? May I splice part of one onto another?

OBTW, the "company issued" lanyard has advertising on it in direct violation of their own rules. That, all by itself, should motivate everyone to tell the tempe trash to "read between the lines".

You're right. Let them know you're pissed.

Go get 'em tiger.

Best of luck.

Glad your experience was favorable.

I don't plan on wearing the new lanyard, but will ditch the AOL badge backer when I return next week. It should still be easy to tell I am a Westie by my pleasant demeanor and respect for fellow employees.

I bet it won't take long before you can't tell us apart!

"pleasant demeanor and respect for fellow employees"...............HAHA!

Taxiing in last week I waved to 6 west planes that were lined up in the PHX holding pen. Here are the results: 5 no responses and 1 middle finger, for not only me to see but all the passengers on our plane. Is that your definition of pleasant demeanor and respect?

Kind of tough to see into the FD tough guy. Were they even looking?

Awesome data gathering though. I look forward to reading your report.

While the idea of unions, like the idea of socialism, is attractive, it never comes to fruition the way it should, because someone has to be in charge. The people in charge are human and they start to think of it as their little kingdom. Then people start to think of their job as an entitlement.

Guess what? There are no entitlements. You form a union, the jobs move overseas. Can’t stop it. So, now the money leaves the United States and the people are left without a job.

Go wear your little lanyards lol!

You know what? I agree. In most things I have been involved with, church, PTA, unions and airline management, eventually that is what it becomes. We are really flawed creatures, and it seems that the most flawed seek the top offices.
