I actually like the current uniform. At least when the F/A's manage to actually wear the full uniform. Which is 85% of the time.
That being said I think it's time for a change. Let's take a minute and think from a Marketing perspective. "The Worlds Largest Low Fare Carrier" On the surface that would seem to indicate a more casual and relaxed dress. But what do the differeniators with SWA tell us?
Traditional Frequent Flyer Program
Star Alliance and associated world wide reach
International destinations including Carribean
Meals on flights
These items cry out for a traditional and somewhat formal uniform IMO. Since it appears the the new US is trying to position itself as a hybrid then you can easily argue that the above amenities offered are consistent with a traditional airline with a traditional dress code.
The look and "Feel" of the new US Airways will be critical in the marketplace. I would suggest that you look toward the European carriers for inspiration as opposed to the discounters for the proper image for US Airways front line staff to present to it's customers. Some of the international carriers uniforms are absolutlely fashion statements.
Also consider the new uniform as a potential morale builder. Studies show that when you dress well you act differently. Professional attire = Professional conduct.
Please no jokes about "Senior Mama's" and bolts of fabric not being wide enough for "designer" uniforms.

I agree 100%!
We should definitley remain more traditional in our dress....the current uniform is nothing great, but when worn properly (cleaned, sized right, ties/tabs, etc...) we do look pretty good.
