the whole 700 number thing seems out of sorts to me all the current A330's are number in the high 200's mstarting with I believe AC-279 or 278
true dat.

but he bit.

I believe that all of the US 330's end in AY, as do some of the 767's. They don't end in US or UW because someone else already used that reg #. Im sure that many of us know that NW used the US letters on their AC. To the best of my knowledge, DL didn't change them over.
As for the 2 newest US 330's, they are 286-287AY.
Has AA not reregistered used aircraft it has acquired?
Whose practice will prevail if that is the case?

(I'm going w/ Parker's)

The 333's start at 270, and run to 278. The 332's run from 279-up. The 767's run from 245-256.

Can't speak for all of them, but there are some AA MD-80s that still carry the TW reg.

yes you are correct wings, I don't look at the numbers much as all the cargo stuff normally works on them unlike the ancient 76's

I'm going to say that they leave them as is due to the size of the combined fleets. AA already uses a 3 letter Sabre designed code on their AC as does US Exp to solve the issue of duplicate numeric AC tail #s. AA has the sabre code on the nose gear door, and above the cargo doors from what I have noticed.

i noticed that us took delivery of 2 A330s are they the 300 series and are they the longer range planes and how many of those is us taking on

I don't think -300s are produced anymore. All 330s are -200s which can carry twice the fuel load of the -300 .

I'm not sure this is true with respect to no longer being produced. Per Wikipedia (so take that for what it's worth), Airbus is still producing the -300, has a larger order backlog for the -300 vs. the -200, and is in the process of making some mods to improve performance. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airbus_A330#A330-300

Regardless, I believe all of the remaining US A330 orders are for the -200s.

I think that Airbus is still selling A333s; there's an order backlog of about 160 of them yet to be built. The -200s carry about 43% more fuel than the -300s, not double the fuel.

He is an stupid, just trying to take it off thread, just ignore him.

At US we only use registration numbers as tail #s.

After the merger there were similar registrations so they decided the widebodies would be AY.

Just like US had VJ for the DC9s and we had one 757 with VJ for the registration and US also used AU which is the symbol of gold.

An, I believe, Northwest scooped a a whole lot of "US" registration numbers. For God only knows what reason.
