Transport Workers Union president Dennis Burchette: "Everybody in the industry's outsourcing their maintenance. People on Wall Street wonder why American's being foolish and keeping their maintenance, it's because we can do it at a better cost and more efficient."

Thanks to the twu

I have to remember to thank the Gods of the ATD before I go to bed tonight.

Thanks for saving my job and ruining my profession

Here's why, the twu lowered the bar so low, it's below vendors.

It takes a sick mind to celebrate $9 an hour union wages, but then again it takes a sick mind to support the twu.

The poor language at United, NWA and Alaska has fueled the increase in third party maintenance in turn has resorted to lower wages.

The TWU has seen fit to work with AA to keep work in-house, in-turn allowing employees to receive a decent wage and benefits without allowing a judge to dictate to them. Since we have seen the dysfunctional Amfa decimating our profession we see the members of the TWU have made a smart choice in representation.

Please prove me wrong? show us where Amfa is superior in protecting jobs at the airlines they represent?

Once again:

It takes a sick mind to celebrate $9 an hour union wages, but then again it takes a sick mind to support the twu.

Is that all you got amfaman??? Amfa has proven themselves to be worthless!!! They have lost all credibilty and are sinking with the airlines they represent!!! THAT IS A FACT!!!!

Care to swap me places? Where is my protection you preach about. I am TWU, well, I was told that once but have yet to see the job protection affect me. Again, CIO, care to swap? Are you still employable if furloughed from your precious AA?

Seed, yes this is twu mentality you have to deal with. Lower the wages to $9/hr; they don't care, they got their's. Negotiate 2 contracts and give TWAers no job protection or maybe an enhanced pension considering most of yours comes from the pbgc; they don't care, they got their's. These are the same idiots that said $28 an hour is the max they could get in 2001, until of course AMFA raised the bar for all. It is realclear what is going on, AMFA is fighting the system/management, the twu is bending us over backwards, coperating with the system/management. They still don't get it and they probally never will. Why pay union dues, if the union does whatever management says and admitts they are in bed with the compAAny.

Their next comment will be the twu classic; "if you don't like it, leave."

Credibility is something the twu has never with its members. Show us the twu card drives at the AMFA represented airlines or crawl yourself back under the rock you call home. It is obvious to all that the FEAR factor of the twu has hit a new high being that they only have 7 months left to spread their BS. Remember, we don't quit till the twu is gone, get used to it.

AMFAMAN:

Here is my question to you: What would be different if the AMFA was representing the AA mechanics rather than the TWU?

Would salaries be higher?

Answer: No, AA would have filed for bankruptcy in '03 and had the judge destroy the contract.

Would more mechanics be employed?

Answer: No, AMFA's militant stance would have led AA to outsource more maintenance work.

You just don't get it, everyone, top down is going to make less and work harder. The TWU leadership seems to have realized this fact, while you have not. At some point, all union membership will realize that they have to continually be more productive or lose jobs. Now does that mean that management shouldn't be held accountable, no. The union should say right back to AA, "If we're going to be more productive, then you have to be more productive as well, and that means eliminating mid-manager jobs and VPs."

Oh yes, the great twu stance of, "we'll trade you our salaries, benefits, first born, and all you have to do is make believe you got rid of a few management jobs." Sorry, I'm not ready to throw the towel in on unionism as you seem so eager to do. Go suck up to your boss, there is nothing union about you. You're nothing but a yes man for the "MAN."

Not necessarily true but if it did happen, a strike would have most likely been the answer to such a poor decision by AA management.

My take on this thread.

Seed spoke the truth, and the TWU stooges ran for cover and have yet to reply to his factual statement and legitimate questions.

twuer, CIO, can't you answer the man's questions?

Well, maybe you care to answer this one.

Where is that all powerful AFL-CIO that you have been harping about being a worthwhile membership for worker protection?

We have all watched as the Federal Judges reward mis-management with worker concessions. I don't even see the AFL-CIO attempting a good o'le TWU bluff. In fact, I don't see or hear anything from the great and powerful wizards of the AFL-CIO. What is the per capita dues per member to this worthless dues collector?

Where is this power of belonging to the huge community of union workers?
