More Outsourcing - F/a Beware!

I just heard from my buddies at CCY - wow - the plans that are going on there!

From what they have said, the company is in talks with a contracting company that is already recruiting candidates that they could quickly train (FAA requirements only) to replace flight attendants in the event of a strike/sick-out. These candidates would only have basic door training, but that's all the FAA actually requires. The company they have been talking with also outsources pilots for foreign carriers, so it's not all that hard to believe that they would have a stock of flight attendants to choose from!

For those who know VP of Inflight's past, she came from a company in LA (between her US Airways stints) that did just this type of contracting! Conincidence?

why in the world can we not outsource mgmt? i mean that we should petition the judge to outsource this crappy of crap no good mgmt team and install a real outside court appointed trustee to run it not with employee paycuts or the outsourcing of this airline. it's going to be a bumpy flt

not to worry folks plenty of low skilled non english speaking "guest workers" will be filling our positions in the near future, trouble is once the middle class has been decimated in this country only the rich will be left to purchase the products.

So very true...sad, but true. Everything comes full circle, doesn't it?

I'm sure Teflon Al C. or Al H. suggested it. Would that be...." there's the door, I'm out of here first "

No oblah englaze......

I thought Sherry came from PSA? I have a book about the history of F/As, and there's a picture of her sitting in the downstairs lounge of an L1011 with two Middle eastern gentlemen on PSA's "Around The World Tour" trying to sell the L10 to other airlines. She's fully PSA'd out with the hat and "wavy stripe" dress. It said she was also the LAX base manager after the merger. Then she went to Legend Airlines in Dallas before returning to US.

Where do the MDA folks stand? They are fully qualified and current on all of the mainline aircraft and are experienced on them. If there was a strike situation would they be asked to scab? Or would they be striking as well since they are still on the mainline list? I'm sure the company knows that they wouldn't, and there's only about 300 of them presently anyway.

And don't forget those two December classes which brings the tally to 350. :)

By the way, anybody heard anything about those classes? Nothing else has been posted, and no letters have been sent out to inform those that are attending.
Hmmm...wonder what the delay is? Could this outsourcing rumor be a reason?

You need to find a new source for information. Your information is an absolute lie. You should be ashamed for posting such blatant, erroneous "so called" facts.

There is no training currently being discussed now or in the future.

We will liquidate the same day that any employee group strikes.

Bite Me. :p  :D

PS Blantant, erroneous facts? Was that a Freudian slip? If they are erroneous, they're not facts. Wouldn't it actually be considered disinformation?

skyguy,

Should that surprise any of us? The company is going to try and cover the bases, be it Pilot, FA, Ramp, or Maint.

The fact is that there is a line around the block to do all of our jobs for less, and appreciate the job as well...contrary to many of the know-it-alls around here.

Striking right now would be the wrong move for many reasons, that is a no-brainer!

Good luck to us all!

My take...

I agree with Hawk. If one group strikes, game over.

Could the company even afford to ramp up a contingency "contract labor force" in the event of a threatened strike (for every labor group)? It would be mighty impressive if they could fiscally and logistically manage such a plan, but let's not overestimate the brain power in Arlington.

For many in labor:

Strike = Dead Company = Unemployment Compensation

Best to all,
BT

UYH,

Did you read HAWK's post, or did you conviently pass over it?

HAWK would know.

BTW, if any group decides to seek "self help", trust they are very well aware that that is "the end".....and they are ready for that if they seek this action...

Let's put it in clear English for total understanding shall we....

IF and when a group should be moved to strike, that is your clear indication that that group HAS HAD ENOUGH!

GAME OVER, INDEED!

Are you saying that this is the case in PHL for FSA and CWA jobs?

If so you're sadly mistaken. Stop speading BS and calling it "fact."
