Seats are not like your seats at home, they are an aluminum frame with a cushion on the back and a cushion on the bottom with covers.
No they are not overhauled everytime a cover or cushion is changed.
N924PS actually thinks he is personally "saving" the airline by carrying write-ups, hoping they will be "fixed" before it becomes a "problem".
As a commuter, I write things up and pass items to the crew. N924PS has been one of the few who does not document problems in the log book (thinking he will "save" the airline?)
Personally, I feel people like him have actually caused the airline to decline. It is really not managements fault. I feel it is the pilots' fault for not establishing a paper trail and not following up.
For instance. Few seem to know that, in an airbus cockpit, should a seat covering be torn and foam particles be "under" the tear, on the floor, whatever, that airplane will be grounded for a series of inspections, including tearing apart and cleaning the pedestal, etc. It is a major fire hazard, yet, I have had to follow up outside the "chain of command" because no one seems to understand the problem, or care.
Tempe, IMO, is a disaster looking for a place to impact.
