We're getting our clocked cleaned by the others in the industry.

Little wonder why when we are treated like red-headed stepchildren, bricks that weight down the bottom line, rather than an important component to a game winning solution.

I am abhorred at the way we are perceived by upper management.

I believe if AA would work to settle our contracts quickly and equitably and treat us as true team members they would be blown away by the strides our combined effort would achieve. There is definitely a missing esprit de core that we must find in order to achieve greatness. The parts are there we just need to put them together. Pointing fingers is not a solution.

I don't expect a whole lot from a new contract. Here in Tulsa we don't ask for much. Pay was not a big component in our rejecting of the contract.
However, WE WILL NOT ACCEPT GOING BACKWARDS TO "SAVE THE COMPANY" ANYMORE.

We will either be treated right or I'll knock the dust from my feet from what used to be and move on to better things.

It's not about the money...it's about respect.

<_< ------- It may not be about "money" there in Tulsa, but you had better believe it's about the money at some of the line stations! It would seem that you and those in Tulsa have tunnel vision. Believe it or not, there are others out there that don't agree with you!

Why did TUL vote down TA? What was the major cause? Thank you

I'm a 25 year AMT here at Tulsa and I agree that MONEY is a MAJOR issue. The problem here in Tulsa is you have a whole lot of people with 1995-97 seniority dates who are willing give up more concessions "just to keep their job".
I do not remember AA promising me or anyone else a lifetime job at AA. I'm for more money and benefits even if it means layoffs to become leaner at M&E.I do travel outside of Oklahoma and know what it cost to live in PHX,LAX,SAN.I know that Line Mechanics need a large pay raise due to the cost of living in many regions of the Country.

"Respect" is fine but it will not pay the bills.

Some people are totally unbelieveable! Are you a member of a union or do you just look out for yourself? I thought union members stuck together in thick and thin, not just when something doesn't benefeit us, then we turn on others. Making that statement of hoping , I would want someone to lose their job so I can benefit with higher wages is unbelievable. Check which side you want to be on you want to be on, I thought backstabbing was part of the non-union philosophy. By the way, I do believe geography pay should be in the contract.

What "telebender" is trying to say(and what Americans position is...)if labor wants to command the wage increases they are, be prepared for some major changes and shake ups in OH. The company simply isn't making the money to fund all these major wage/bene increases that the pilots, F/As(the 2 groups who AA is trying to save the real money for), and mechanics are wanting.

AA can NOT afford to pay 40-45/hr for it's OH mechanics. And will not. Period.

AA does NOT want to see the pilots walk, nor the sky waitresses.(those are the only 2 groups that can paralyze an airline-immediately)... They know they've got the TWU on the run and in a serious delimma(if you know what I mean...)

Yes, and labor's (tired) response will be "we gave enough in 2003"

I agree y'all gave in 2003. But I've said for the past seven years that keeping overhaul had a price then, and continues to have a price tag attached to it now.

I think you all know the only hope of seeing $40+ on the line is a separate pay scale for the line and the base. Demanding equal pay for equal work doesn't really apply in my opinion, given how different the two work environments are.

The backstabbing is coming from the people with the 1995-97 seniority who voted for CONCESSIONS to save their jobs at the expense of all the mechanics. I guess if you call TWU a union then the answer is yes.Unfortunately Jim Little runs our Local 514 with a iron fist. If AA can get the O/H work done cheaper somewhere else [including turn times] they should because AA is a business not an employment agency. If AA does not get smarter SOON about the way they do business this discussion will be a moog point for all of us. I'm not sure if you understand the Absolute # 1 priority in a union.
In a perfect world, ALL union members of a particular union @ a particular company get to enjoy equal progressive benefits .
That said, when a company decides to take a different approach to the way they're going to do business, CHANGE becomes inevitable.
For example; I foresee AA sooner rather than later....bring former AA Boss RC Crandalls 'vision' of flying long haul almost exclusively to fruition. This in a sense is a "downsize", meaning LESS employees(AMT's in this case). This in turn makes the union's top priority...Seniority ! (though Little and company will never admit it) The company OF COURSE will blame the greedy union(s) for "making them" change their business model, when all along they were going to do as they Dam well pleased...anyway.

Bottom line in unions is....."last one IN....first one OUT". It's just the way it is !

Bell Helicopter had a strike recently. When asked what they were striking over, one of the things mentioned was that they were going to outsource building cleaning and cleaners were going to lose their jobs. This is one of the things mentioned they were striking for. I would then call this a real union principal, the cleaners were able to keep their jobs. By the way, most overhaul can bump the system, still the first in, last out mentality.
