We all know Mike Flores is not interested in his member's ideas on a new reserve system (rotating reseve etc), as he is in possession of a crystal ball that predicts how members will vote. He is interested in Alaska Airlines reserve system.

Does anyone know anything about how their system works? If we were looking to another AFA carrier for inspiration, I'd imagine a larger airline with more complexities would be a better model than something smaller or straightforward as AS, but I'm not the one-man "union" Mike Flores is.

I can't find their contract online as their AFA site is for AS members only. Anyone have any insight?

Last year I had a furloughed US f/a on one of my flights and he was working for Alaska and he said the bottom reserves had a block except that they sat reserve for a week or so out of the month. I thought it sounded really good. I wish I remembered his name. He was too junior to come back when we did but it sounded like he had a much better deal over there but he still wanted to come back to US Airways. This just doesn't sound right though considering what this guy told me is exactly what MF said "membership would never go for." He was based in Seattle but commuted on US from the East coast a lot of times. Other than that, I don't really know anything. I just remember thinking, "Wow! Why can't we have something like that?" I wish I had gotten more info from him but we were talking about lots of other stuff.

I found a summary of their agreement. Here's the link: Summary of Alaska Agreement
