How many FA's do they currently have, and if the furloughs do not take
positions are they hiring off of the streets?

According to the Philly Paper today....48 F/As.... They have stopped 2 classes senior to My class....MAY 2000.... SO, We have yet to have even been Offered a position... Sweetie.... There are A LOT of Flight Attendants to go !!! If you look at the afausairways.org they was a Q & A posted a few months back..But it still can be found on the front page.... Yes, After ALL UsAir Flight Attendants have been offered positions... Furloughed and then Active....They probably will hire off the street... According to this website!!! Hope that helps.

I guess my question is, are there ENOUGH willing FA's to go over to MidAtlantic
to fill their demand? How many rumored FA's out of the furloughs are making the move over to Express?

I didn't realize the pay and benefits were less than PSA and Piedmont. MDA will max out at 27? that can't be right. I believe PSA is 38 or 42 and the same or more at Piedmont. Why would any one want to go to MDA with those pay scales. Even if you start in the 5 to 6 year block that is what the WO's pay after year one. I guess i am confused

Current PSA pay rates start at $15.06 and top out under the current agreement after 12 years at $25.86. You might want to check your facts before posting. I'm certain our FA's would like to earn the $38 or $42 you were talking about.

There really is no way to answer that question right now... Like I said... My class hasn't even recieved an offer yet...And then there are Thousands after me...Im sure most have moved on with their lives BUT who knows... Some have resigned to go to other Airlines and some are happy with their new jobs and don't want to go back to being F/A's.... But WHO KNOWS how many will jump at the chance to get back out there flying... It's VERY HARD TO SAY !!!!

Not from our furloughed list. We have approx 2,000 INVOL furloughed. I know they sent the letters to the top 1,000. I do believe Colby's is correct, management will probably burn through the list by years end and then start to hire off the street.

The figures I quoted are from the PSA contract. Maybe your higher figures are from PDT or ALG.

I am afraid you are a little confused on the PSA pay rates. Yes you are correct we start at 14.69 as of 7/1/2003......However we max out at 32.46 after 17 years when the contract reaches 8/31/2009. As of right now PSA max is 24.62 at 11- 12 years (which includes only one Flight Attendant on the Senority list). You must also remember we crawl up VERY slowly after the first year. We reach 17.57 at year two as of 7/1/2004. You are correct that after year one at PSA you do make more then MDA because of the 5 year pay freeze at MDA.
Also I have looked at the MDA work rules and just like at Mainline they are far easier then at PSA. We run 30-40 minute turns all day for four days with 10-12 hours overnights if we are lucky. Everytime you hit the ground you are cleaning and stocking, you hardly ever leave the plane. The contract is full of holes were the company is ALWAYS calling "operational need" and screwing you out of your senority and reserve here is the worst of any airline in the biz.
I am not writing this to make ANYONE feel bad about the way things are. But I just wanted to give everyone who is considering joining us, instead of MDA a little heads up about how it works here. And don't forget the worst part of all, is you only bring travel senority over. No longevity for pay/bidding unlike MDA. Hope it helps. ;)

I have a hypothetical seniority question with respect to MDA.

Let's say F/A "John" who was one of the early furloughs accepts a job at MDA. I know that he would carry over his mainline seniority number with respect to nonrev travel. But then let's say that there is another round of mainline furloughs and F/A "Julie" gets her mainline notice and decides to go to MDA training. Would John be senior to Julie for trip bidding, since John was at MDA earlier? Or would Julie's mainline seniority trump John?

I was just wondering if this issue has been addressed.

If say (JOHN) was furloughed in June of 2000 from mainline & goes to MDA in July 04. Then there is another mainline furlough in August 04 (for instance) and (SUE) was furloughed in August 04, she would be slotted in at MDA with her respective seniority. She would bump John down the list but is not allowed to bump him out all together. She would have to wait for an opening but when SUE gets there she would be senior to everyone before her.

 OK.

starting pay rates at MDA are the same as American Eagle, which is alot less than PSA. Start pay is $12.91/block hour! talk about welfare wage! I don't believe they are going to take furloughed and start them at their longevity. I'm SURE they will start the payscale at the starting rate ... new airline?

Does ANYONE know anything about who's at training right now for FAs? If any? If so what's their status ie. are they from the latest rounds of furloughs?

Where does the seniority number stand in terms of involuntary furloughs ? is it May 1999 like I heard?

PitBul ... you're not a U employee? I'm surprised, you're soo knowledgeable. I read and trust your posts. so i was surprised when I saw the disclaimer.
