MS Tree, the market place is what will look out for the workers, a thriving competitive free market place where we are all free to chose where to work and at what wage is what protects us not artificial things like unions or government. They obviously make things worse, people really have to stop looking for some magical savior.

Also, unions are only pissed about this law because new employees are not "FORCED" to join their ranks and can "CHOOSE" whether or not to join them !
BUT
are they being given all the facts? What is the payrate? Benefits? Job Title requirements? Job Security?

In other words, are they actually doing their homework about the LONG RUN OUTCOME?

If it's "the unions" that are so mad, how do you explain the fact that those protesting are rank and file workers?

The best is yet to come because management in certain industries are starting and forming unions, because unlike those that get billions if terminated, most collect unemployment and are fired because the owner wants his good for nothing nephew to do their easy job!!!

No. Unfortunately, the whole idea of busting unions as a means to defund the Democratic Party is not news.

I don't agree because major unions have endorsed Republican candidates at one time or another. There is a strong movement to ELIMINATE unions. This is corporate's plan to divide and conquer the workforce and we are playing into their hands. The public opinion is based on media propaganda that can be altered to suit the ratings outcome.

My SURPRISE is that the one in a million incident was overblown to 1000X but everyone bought it!

Here's a very simple example:

I paid $46/mo. in dues at NW. By doing so, I was saving over $100/mo. in medical compared to non-contract employees who had the exact same plan.

There is an interesting point often overlooked in this glass warfare/envy society.

Who is the easiest person to fire in a Publically traded company?

The CEO and Senior staff are. One vote one call from the board of Directors and Zip gone out you go. The mail clerk at least gets a change to their case and union workers have a little more protection.

Despite all of the union chest thumping, the company in question must be profitable in order to ensure job security for ALL workers.
 
"At Will" means just that. truth is the boss can walk up to you and say "Jesus Christ that's an ugly necktie, you're fired" and there is precious little you can do.
