Mesa May Purchase Usairways

Midwest, service is far superior, I would fly them over an RJ to MKE.

Probably end up as a gold on CO/NW and a Silver on DL. NOT my favorite choice but I've had an unpleasant experience or 2 with Mesa.

In fact I'm on line right now deciding if I want to be loyal to US on a flight to MKE when Midwest goes there for the same funds on a B717 or take a chance with Mess-Up on a 50 seat CRJ.

U flys one E170 to MKE a day from PHL. -Cape

Mesa's compensation strategy, as told by Ornstein: "As long as people are still applying, I'm paying you too much."

When thinking about the prospects of JO owning US Airways, I think I'd rather see them close the doors. Knowing his attitude regarding employees as shown by his own words above I'm thinking it would be to painful as a customer to fly what was US Airways. I would also think that most of the truly great employees would also leave.

I agree. We are having a hard time keeping employees with this management team, having Ornstien "head the pack" would be the demise of this carrier. Probably take his MESA down with us too.

Self-interest at center of Mesa's interest in airline

Saturday, March 12, 2005
By Dan Fitzpatrick, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Phoenix commuter carrier Mesa Air's interest in propping up US Airways with a new investment reflects the commuter carrier's interest in self preservation, Atlanta airline analyst James Parker said yesterday.

Self-interest at center of Mesa's interest

A telling quote from the PPG article:

US Airways Chief Executive Officer Bruce Lakefield said Thursday that the list of interested investors is "long" -- a statement Parker disputed. "Investors are not lining up," the analyst said.

Bruce Lakefield is a man of character and integrity unlike previous CEO’s. People may not like his decisions, but when he speaks it’s the truth. US Airways’ potential investors are likely Mesa, Chautauqua, GECAS, RSA, private equity, and possibly TSA.

The Post-Gazette is focusing on Mesa, but people should not discount Brian Bedford could trump Jonathan Ornstien or the Chautququa CEO could become a two-time loser.

Really?

In the immediate aftermath of the meltdown, US Airways CEO Bruce Lakefield said the problems were caused by “record numbersâ€￾ of sick calls from flight attendants and ground crew, particularly at the airline’s Philadelphia hub.

(from http://www.thestate.com/mld/thestate/11037120.htm)

As the DOT report showed, Lakefield did not speak the truth.

Attendence at Canoe U does not automagically beget that one is not a shill or spinmiester. Lakefield proved this over the holidays.

Oh really? Could have fooled me. He is the least able to handle the position of CEO. Good CEOs need to handle the media better. On newsreports the other night, he came across as a crabby old man with little interest in promoting the company. He is NOT Mr. Diplomacy. Mr Crabby, yes.

A man of charecter and integrity would have taken a paycut when the the company went to court and had the judge impose paycuts on the employees.

Doubtful Chatauqua, 320. Delta owns a sizable chunk of their stock. Why would Delta allow an investment in a competitor?

It would seem that JO has finally been hit with the realization that the airline business is not as lucrative as it was when his good friend Dave Siegel was handing him US Airways routes faster than he could find crews to fly them.

I bet JO cried when Siegel bailed.
And from the sound of this and other articles, he has not stopped !

Bruce Lakefield may not be the sharpest pencil in the box but compared to JO and Siegel he is the lesser evil at this point.

Look at these two faces and see the architects of the new labor relations tactics that this nations airlines have come to consider standard operating procedure.

Bruce Lakefield is man of character and integrity, thats kinda like calling Michael Jackson an excellent babysitter, thats funny right there!! Men of character and integrity don't demand paycuts and cuts in benefits ie retirement termination and then spout off to the media how they can't afford paycuts because they have 2 households to maintain!!! A man of integrity and character does not blame his workforce for a meltdown that his inept management team created, and then after it was discovered that it was his management team that created this meltdown he still offers no apology!! Men with character and integrity set the standards for which others will follow, god help us if Bruce Lakefield is setting the standards, name one thing this idiot has done to help employee relations you can't! Oh that's right bribed workers in PHL to come to work with big screen TV's but yet is laying off thousands of other workers in other stations who you could always count on coming to work and going the extra mile!! There again like I have said before it's not a lie if you believe it!! BRUCE LAKEFIELD IS A MAN OF CHARACTER AND INTEGRITY!! NOT!!

No, not all problems with the Mesa operation is related to US management. Of all the Express carriers, they are the WORST by far....on almost any day. I loathe to think US getting wrapped up with Mesa even more than they already are. HELP US!!
