Mechanics Have Reason To Be Upset

TWU sucks is not near as tiresome as the management suck asses on the board who are now even informing us what Church the new CEO attends, and how that makes him different. Tell us, what does this Lutheran think about domestic partners, and being the #1 Gay/Lesbian Airline of choice?

First we have circle jerks and then suck asses and now AMFA Dave is bringing up domestic partners and being the gay airline of choice.

Will AMFA preserve closet lifestyles and homophobia equally? ;)

I, as well as about 70,000 other employees at AA, don''t really care about the injustices the TWU has inflicted upon the mechanics. That''s between you and your union.

Given the low number of people who have actually contributed to this thread, I''d say that I''m not alone in my opinion.

For the same reason I am here, I bet, because too often in the past, bad things (not my honest choice of words) have happened, when no on spoke up. So I am also going to state my opposing view point, maybe it makes a difference, but I am not hopeful, True Believers are beyond help, they have to fervently believe in something, does not matter what.
I could give you an appropiate nice pithy quote from Eric Hoffer, but don''t have his book handy. Besides RV4, Bob O., and Buck tend to take everything literal, word for word, which makes it hard to keep a meaningful exchange of opinions and view points going.

I learned that a long time ago. It''s a lot like watching a (name removed to make people uncomfortable with the concept of organized religion more comfortable) argue a religious text with a (name removed to prevent offending someone who might know someone who lives next to someone who belongs to one of these groups).

One believes in looking beyond what is written to consider the intent and context of what is written, where the other refuses to budge beyond what is written in black and white.

j7915,

I notice your view of Labor Agreement Contract Language is that it also should not be viewed as "literal" meaning. This is why the language of our agreements are so vague and ambiguous, and member's grievances are withdrawn so often.

When the subjects discussed here and on other message boards involve my livlihood, then yes I take it literal. If the meaningful exchange of opinions and viewpoints are difficult for you then you do not have to participate.

Is anyone suprised to see how these two agree with each other? Its the same thing that happens at negotiations. They are on the same team. One pays us, but why do we pay the other if they are on the same team?
"How much do you want back? $620 million in cash and workrules? No problem, here it is. By the way, after I sell this I'd like to take the wife on a "little" trip to Hawaii, any chance of an A pass in first? Great, I love doing business with you."

Are (or is it our-CIO) you Eolesen?

Its amazing how easy some who claim to be union supporters can slide right into and promote the management point of view, even speak for them!

j7915, I am also an Eric Hoffer fan (dare I say true believer?).

Would you please hunt up your book and favor us with the quote you almost posted?

Eric, It is truly sad to hear that you and 70,000 other AA people do not care about the injustices invoked by the TWU. I do not know the exact nature of your job, but I would be willing to bet it does not have the direct responsibility of thousands of lives in your hands. I am sure that if you make a mistake in the beans you are counting we would be better off. If I were to fly often I would be very concerned about the people maintaining the aircraft I would be flying. If they are upset and angery they just might be a little to preoccupied with all of the crap they have had to swallow lately.

Do you mean you are a "True Believer" as defined by Hoffer, or are you saying that you agree with his writings?

Are you saying you''d put politics ahead of safety?

Sorry, but anyone who thinks that union politics is affecting their on-the-job judgement should just hang up their wrench and walk away before they do something stupid.
