Mec President Resigns Early

Folks in PHL,

I would like to make one comment regarding the EX- LECP from PHL who went out on a VF and did not rerun for PHL, you must admit the entire face of the MEC changed when she exited. Conspiracy was everywhere. Mollie was by far one of if not the finest union rep Teddy worked with. The two were like lightening rods to managment. But Mollie was the brains, and used the energy of Teddy to move managment. Mollie cared about her group, and protected the reserves like no other specifically in such a hostile unlabor friendly environment in the hx of aviation. Someone needs to write a book! When you see the contract, you will see the improvements to the reserve system to put money in the pockets of the reserves. She pushed so hard for those provisions, I swear you could see blood rush to all her veins. The DH on top of guarantee, the reserve seniority windows, reserves on ETB to pick up time on top of guarantee, automatic release to check in if you call sched for a trip at 1500 and reserve screens specifically quick call screens that are coming in just a couple months.

The MEC who worked with her miss her plenty.

My advice, pay attention to every election and know the history of the person, where they came from and what their beliefs are and who they affiliate with, and even education. You'll know the person well. Don't go by what they write, but by their reputation...

And for heaven sakes vote! The LECP of PHL won on 276 votes out of 2,200.

Apathy is not good.

From what Glenda told me on the phone today, he will resign at the next BOD meeting. She said that would be in Oct., She thought. thats just what she told me. Also for whats it's worth, when folks where furloughed out of seniority in CLT, the CLT LEC office was of no help, they all had to go to the PHL office for any assistance and help. I agree that Glenda and Ann are hard working, but I truly hope that they do not follow the path of our former LEC, Steve Hearn, to which they where so loyal. That scares the CRAP out of all of us down here. One of the things that makes us nervous is that Ann may end up as our LEC Pres. An office she has never wanted to run for. She has always been a follower here in CLT.

This kind of devious, back-stabbing is exactly why many well-qualified people don't run for AFA offices, much like why many people in the public sector don't run for public offices. The infighting with the same people who are supposed to be on the same side distract from the real work at hand -- doing the jobs they were elected to do by the membership they represent.

Very sad and a real shame. Why can't the officers just put their personal issues aside and let the principles take precident? Or is that just a concept too foreign to grasp by lesser minds?

It's been my observation that big egos fall hard. When one is so blinded by their own conceit and sense of "greatness", they lose all perspective about the job they are supposed to be doing. And then it's the long, hard fall to the bottom. They need to remember they are servants to the membership. That was something Teddy never forgot.

The next months will see the true story told: who returns phone calls, who takes the time to listen to the membership and who is in for the "glory."

It's my opinon AFA needs a serious overhaul. First, I'd like to see an amendment made to the C&B's that disallows any person who uses AFA dues/dollars for personal use be banned from ever holding another AFA office or committee position. Perhaps one of the newly elected officers would be brave enough to make that motion at the upcoming BOD meeting. If nothing else, it would be a sign of good faith and give a bit of credibility to the new MEC.

If that can't be accomplished, why not a little internal house cleaning? I believe most of us know who needs to go. Being the generous person I am, I'd ask them to resign first. Give them just a little dignity, more than they deserve but I think it's decent. If they refuse to go, and Pat Friend won't do anything about it, well...let the cards fall where they may.

But then, I am just a lowly dues paying member. And one that truly cares about her union.

Ok, let me see if I am understanding the accusations- gay porn downloaded on several occasions on a computer paid for by members, parking tickets (paid for by members' dues?), dirty politics, unethical behavior unbefitting to any office or company, purported "under the table deals", apathy (at the highest level), finger pointing, deception, backstabbing, the release of personal information from a f/a's file to be distributed by another f/a, major conflicts of interest with elected officers whose job it is to defend you - not destroy you, using members' dues or your position for your own personal gain??!! Does anyone else get the feeling that CCY is smugly and calmly sitting back, watching the AFA implode? If any of these allegations are true, there needs to be an audit or investigation asap. Glad I am not paying these dues anymore to keep this revolting drama going. And why is there not a board or forum like UAL f/as have that keeps non f/as from viewing a thread like this. This stuff should be PMed instead of hung out like dirty laundry. Shameful. Even more shameful and disappointing if any of it is true. What a sad state of affairs.

And I am not referring to TX who I feel was the only thing holding back the waters most of the time.

Enjoy your retirement TX and do not look back at this mess.

You have hated Teddy for years, why not just say it.

Amazing how years of hard work and dedication can be flushed down the toilet in seconds by a few vermin.

If I were Teddy I would show the malcontents posting on here my middle finger and never look back and just be glad this chapter is forever closed in my life.

Corporate America is winning big time as the unions are being crushed from the inside out. The biggest union division on the planet has recently been declared, and as this crap with the AFA shows, unions are fast becoming irrelevant relics as more and more CEO's become billionaires while workers are becoming impoverished.

Point 5 reveals the truth. The folks making this an issue weren't in office when the proffer was made, and disclosure WAS MADE to the folks in office at the time.

This whole deal is another Palace smear campaign, with fellow travelers in the current MEC.

Point 6 goes to an issue I have raised before. Do any of the actors in this coup have ties to Al? I'd bet the farm someone does.

Thanks for the info, abonny.

on point 5, this was not disclosed to those in office at the time. . .whoever told you that was lieing

YOU REALLY do NOT want to open a Pandora's box here. Think I have been hard on you so far? It is NOTHING compared to what else I know and have been too nice to reveal to this point.

Yes, I am a Teddy supporter but only because she has proven herself to be a ferocious fighter for just causes and a protector of not only ALL the flight attendants but for ALL of labor.

You on the other need never worry about being on the receiving end of my support. The only thing you have proven is that you are a Management shill trying to destroy a fellow union rep just so your "good friend" in CCY can satisfy her need for vengence.

I do my research before I post and nobody gets my support or my respect unless & until they have earned it. But I do not expect that you will ever understand honor and morality.
[post="292955"][/post]

good. . .why would i want your support? i am not a union rep, nor a mgmt "shill" and have done nothing to "destroy" a union rep.

everyone stop and think: if all this mess had occurred and someone you don't support had been the accused, everyone of you would be singing a different tune. . .but you won't admit that because that might put an end to all this drama that you thrive on

April - offer made
August - becomes public info
April - August - no mention by the person who received the offer
Conclusion - something stinks

Dude, you can say that 'til you are blue in the face

It doesn't make it so.

The MEC and LEC can speak for themselves. Them, I'll believe.

And I just have to wonder.

You are so keen on the issue of Teddy and disclosure.

Yet I have not seen you call for the PHL LEC to disclose who leaked personal information to her.

I have not seen you ask why, when the PHL LEC received this information, did not follow AFA bylaws and call for an internal union review - surely Teddy was owed professional treatment.

You seem to have no curiosity as to whether there is any collusion between the company and the current union leadership.

This raises the real possibility you are biased.

When you come on this board, you are playing with folks from a variety of professional backgrounds, and they can smell BS a mile off.

Last point.

In another post, you alleged another poster let their bias, regardless of any fact, influence their post.

Pot, meet kettle.
