I can only tell you what happend here at SWA while we had teamsters.
Thanks for the Info and run down. Sometimes its nice to hear whats going on from someone else's shoes. Looks like more home work on the AMFA. Have a good one My Union Brother. ps Some on here just want to spin BS and half truths to shape things to what they want it to look like but if you dig deep enough you can always find the true facts.lol B)

Are you that ignorant?
You said: So can you the same about any IBT represented heavy mtc? Nope you cant cause they farm it all out.) YOU Lie. THE TRUE FACT: At AWA Before the IBT was voted in at HP (AWA) The Company did a MASS layoff of over 500 AMTs and related as we know it as( BLACK FRIDAY) and SHUTDOWN the back shops and C & B-Check Lines outsourced the whole HMV. After this the IBT was voted in. You said:(HP AMT's NEVER made more in pay than US, why do you keep lying again?) YOU Lie. THE TRUE FACT: AWA AMT's base pay was a little higher than USAir AMT's and as you said:( So the IAM crappiest bankruptcy CBA is still better than the former hp cba.) After the merger AWA AMT's lost our sick time full pay and 2 holidays also our insurance is 3 times higher. After the merger the Transition Agreement gave both AWA AND USAir AMT's a small pay increase but at a lost of benefits from the AWA AMT's. FACT.....This whole thing looks the same as it did with the AWA and USAir merger, At that time the IBT CBA was in sec 6 Negotiations and the company was talking to the IAM at USAir and stalling the contract till the merger. Now the shoe is on the other foot the IAM is in sec 6 negotiations and the company is stalling and is talking to the UNIONS at AA. 700 I have been here before AWA was the smaller union than USAir and this time USAir is the smaller union to AA so they will control what union will be in place at the next Transition Agreement. I would like to see the AMT's have a union for them only as the Pilots and Flight Attendants have. The ramp has held the AMT's back long enough we have pulled them up and now it time for them to let go of our shirt tails and I think that's what the AA AMT's are looking to do and why they want a new union IBT or AMFA. Have a good one my little iam brain washed union brother. B)

I would highly recomend anyone to do their own homework on any and all unions. All the unions have the same job to do. However, with AMFA, they are the ONLY union that is truely democratic and transparent to all its members. AMFA allows members to attend ALL nego's when nego, from contract talks to integration nego's. Also with AMFA the members are the ones that run the union, not appointed officials only looking out for their own good. With AMFA you, the membership will deside, run and vote on everything that has to do with the membership. Matter fact the membership will be overwhelmed with how much participation it takes to run your own union. With AMFA you guys can and will set how much your local officers can spend each and every month without a membership vote. As an example: here at SWA local 11, our officers cannot spend more than 300 bucks without a membership vote. This way it is brought to the membership on why and how much, then the membership desides if they can follow thru with it. I know this sounds very minute, however, it keeps the fund spending in check, which with us and our previous union, the teamsters, the spending got extremely out of control. It got so bad that local 19 was completely broke and always in the negative each and every month. If you have a chance find out where there is a local AMFA local and ask to attend the meetings to watch and see how AMFA works in motion, you really will be amazed at the difference compared to the industrial unions meetings and operations. Keep researching, you will be impressed, no joke. Good luck...

TRAVIS, I also hope you understand that the ibt at AA was put in place to distract from the AMFA drive there. They are not a real contender to AMFA, just a distraction or deflection. Matter fact the TWU tried to deflect more so, by claiming that they were in the middle of a big card drive at SWA, where in fact they merely only sent some TWU drive cards to the SWA membership where the ibt provided all the members addresses and information to the TWU in order to do so. The TWU has failed completely in their card drive here at SWA. Also, the ibt also tried a card drive here once the announcement of SWA buying AirTran and they were very quickly told to pack sand, and they too retrieved very quickly from their attempt to come back to the SWA mechanics. To sum it up; there is no TWU card drive here at SWA (never was) it was just a scam to try and show the AA mechanics that we were supposively trying to remove AMFA from SWA. And BTW; there really is a card drive at UAL for AMFA. They were mislead and lied to by the teamsters to get their membership to remove AMFA, now they are trying to get AMFA back in at UAL, they have learned their leasons...

I just looked again, for a mechanic with 10+ years was $23.35, am I missing something?

I know I left out license, skill, long and shift.

I am talking about base rates.

Base rates aren't a good comparison. Look at fed ex, they pay $7/license so their base rate is lower. You need to include an 'all in' rate to compare wages

And the book I'm looking at shows 23.69 for top base rate in 2008, so you are including something to the book rate you show... I thought you negotiated this, from the 1000s of times you've mentioned it.

Base pay rates, that is what I posted.

And I didnt negotiate the ibt hp cba, I was not an HPer.

The 23.69 is top base rate for US in 2005 book for 2008. The one you were on the nc for. Not that I'm a fan of the ibt, but I noticed their contract became amendable 1/2004, so they were stuck in negotiations with HP. Still, not necessarily apples to apples.

I had US at $23.29 base rate and HP at $23.35 on my old notes. I was looking for that old BK CBA I had. But if you have the BK contract and say it was $23.69 that’s ok with me. My Bad 700. As it is we have had no NEW contract from 2004-2013 9 yrs. And only if you count as 700 said: IAM crappiest bankruptcy CBA that was used to make a Transition Agreement and is amendable at this time. The IBT CBA was amendable last merger and the company stalled till the unions were in place. And they will do the same this time. AA AMT’s will say what Union will be in place. Need to do some Homework on AMFA and find the pay scale swa TOP OUT with Lic. /Shift. Have a good one my UNION BROTHERS.
