From the 2Q State of the Airline webcast today Doug stated that they have decided to utilize SHARES over SABRE.

Thoughts?

Yeah, more training classes!
Seriously though, as long as its not the Yugo version of something, I'll be thrilled. I spent 20 minutes tonight trying to get Sabre to backdate, force price, anything on an international ticket that had to be reissued and no luck. Finally had to go in and force the fare to get it to come out right. Great computer system!

Have absolutely no idea what SHARES is. SABRE is a boat anchor and whoever brought it on board should be tied to a post and whipped with leather.

Shares is HP's res system. If you have used CARE at US it's pretty similar as it's a QIK script shell. It's pretty neat and works well. You need about 3 hours of training to get going.

As I understand it Care is different from what is used at the ATO. How does SHARES stack up when you are serving long lines of customers at the ATO?

Not really.....it reduces keystrokes to nothing just about. Like adjusting a etkt is 1 button and filling in like 2 pop-ups.

As far as rebooking and dealing with lines, checking is simple. One button then fill-in name, b, c, i, seat if you want and done.... QIK is a reduction of keystrokes and can do a lot. Program scripts can be written for just about anything and make life easier.

 I've become very comfortable with SABRE and they've finally brought it up to speed on the reissue formats, especially international ticketing! How well will SHARES handle a complicated international reissue with multi documents? I'm not happy about this news at all, if it's true...What other airlines use SHARES? <_<

Continental uses SHARES. In fact, AWA and CO were once interconnected.

I just looked at the Format guide for shares at continental beside me at mt station and you know something ..
checking passengers is more easier under shares
pnr creation is the same
pricing is easier.......
availability is similar to pacer

I gonna go through the rest later in the week hell maybe i make a copy of it...

Even AMR is switching over to a new computer system called Quantum. It may just be a front end for SABRE, but it appears to be easier to use.
