Leaked: US and UA in merger talks for over a month

AA just reported a 330 million dollar loss for this last qtr. Things are gonna start to get really interesting. Desperate times are cause for...

My worst nightmare might come true. I ran away from US to UA and now I might have to deal with all this nightmare again?

US should stay were it is that way I can avoid it. If they merge I'll never be sure that I'm not flying on a POS aircraft with horrible management that creates unhappy employees.
We'll make sure to put in a word just for you and that way hopefully you won't be inconvenienced in any way.

This article really pi$$es me off. It speaks of AA's broad transatlantic presence and talks of a miniscule US international operation. Doesn't US serve tripple the destinations in Europe than AA?

Idiots.
Are you kidding me?????????

Where did you get the idea that US was so big in Europe. UA, DL, & AA all eclipse US in European flights destinations. Perhaps you are thinking of code share destinations, which were brought to US compliments of UA and Star Alliance. (You're welcome.) But US has one of the smallest international fleets of any US airline serving Europe.

Next time, you might check facts before you go ranting. US serves 19 cities, AA serves 13. When I said, "tripple," it was a purposeful exaggeration, also known as a hyperbole. The author of the article is wrong to diminish the transatlantic presence, and you were wrong to claim that I was speaking of Star Alliance code shares.

You are right about the fleet, though.

To clarify, US flies more TA than UA, too -- I THINK. So, assuming that is true, one can say that US, DL, and CO eclipse UA and AA in transatlantic travel.

Hopefully you'll be shocked enough to go away. Your hatred for a company you don't even work for seems unhealthy.

US does not fly a lot of seats to Europe, but serves 20 destinations, which is more than AA, UA, or NW. As for United's transatlantic contribution to US via codeshare, there is not a single destination in Europe United serves that is not already served by US Airways. So thanks for, well, nothing. You're welcome for our codeshare service to Greece, Ireland, Sweden, Portugal, Scotland etc.

Are you telling me that's the average load factor per month or that's the actual amount of passengers we have flown in these months combined...

How much would it cost us to get you to go away???

He's had a burr up his butt about US Airways ever since UA and US were in merger talks several years ago. You'd think he'd have moved on by now but apparently his hatred for all things US Airways is what gets him through the day.

Again, US serves more destinations than the number 3, 4, and 5 airlines BUT serves them with smaller aircraft. As the company takes more A330s and (eventually) the 350WXB, you will see that number in your reference double or tripple without even adding destinations. US has publicly stated that they intend to add three to four new European destinations every year in 2009, 2010, and 2011.
