Watched the town hall from PHX today and an AA AMT said that 4 AA AMTs were being laid off but US Air was hiring 40 AMTs.  They said the AA AMTs were offered spots at US Air but I'm guessing it would be as a new hire and they would have to give up all their seniority.  They said since there are two different unions on the property they cannot keep the AA guys and hire less US Air guys since we can't work on theirs and they can't work on ours.  Thanks IAM for refusing to do the right thing and step away.  I'm also guessing the PHX guys who get laid off get their choice of JFK or LGA.  Anyone know any particulars?

I believe that kind of issue happened with Reno Air? At that time I asked a certain Tulsa Union Officer about their seniority and he stated that hey are getting every bit of their union seniority, which was none. On the other hand AirCal was direct Dove Tail as they were TWU. Now we await the TWU / IAM  method in the upcoming months. I guess seniority will be decided after the Association but before the contract?

I believe it should have been the larger union as long as there was a real Dove Tail and not like the TWA debacle...

If this guy is a fleet service clerk in Miami, then I'm CR Smith.

He is an idiot who trolls on the AMT blogs.  Apparently he suffers from an inferiority complex.  I put him on ignore long ago and it is so much better.  Obviously he had no information so, as usual, he makes some kind of stupid statement.  Now, does anyone have any pertinent information as to what these laid off AA guys are looking at?  I am guessing they would be new hires if they went to US Air.

Some of you are dumber than a box of rocks. Or some of your own screws are loose and not the ones on those airplane's.

Too dumb to understand the Preferential Hiring agreement I guess? How the hell did this guy get his A&P license?

Here since the old crow has me blocked and thinks he's superior to me and I don't think he even understands basic reading comprehension, maybe one of you guys can give this to him and explain it? Good luck trying though. You're gonna need it.

Actually I know a lot of Fleet guys who are much smarter than many mechanics. Actually even some Pilots out there.

And there is a guy on your team on this board who has met me. Go ask him.

And that's the very reason why a law was passed.

Define smart.  You're doing a job that was never meant to make a career out of.  Thanks to your "catch all", one size fits all union - parlaying the fleet service group into a career position through manipulation of job responsibilities robbed from aircraft maintenance.  A fine job the TWU has done, that is - if you're a FSC.

Could you just TRY to give the Old Crow the information and maybe explain it to him? Is that at all possible? Do you even understand it yourself or are you just going to go on another piss tear rant with more of this emotional garbage that I can promise you is not bothering me in the slightest.

Try being cool just this once. Be honest and explain the information to your Brother. Here is the link one more time.

BTW my friend Jerry's father retired from AA as a FSC in 1978 with almost 40 years. I'd call that a pretty proud career personally.

Old Crow, that he is not, I just happened to meet the guy in passing last week.  In a nutshell, it came down to trust.  He didn't trust the clause, and asked for something in writing that absolutely guaranteed him protection - it was refused.  He didn't want to roll the dice.  I guess the US Air side has a bad reputation as well.

The AMT in question asked for something in writing that would guarantee that he would not lose any seniority once the groups were merged - if he decided to stay in PHX and work under the US Air contract.

Do a search on the net. It's all out there, in writing. You just have to put it together. If you're smart enough? It's all there.
