las vegas hub to close

I commute on WN often. Recently, a WN f/a told me that they are growing the LAS base from 500 to 1500 f/as right now. Sounds like a major increase in flying for them.

This industry will continue to ebb and flow with the dynamics of the nation. The economy, demographics and technology all change the dynamics of this business. What might seem powerful and solid today can and will change in the blink of an eye. Nothing is for certain and anything is possible.

Yet we all should be------->
You are so correct, I am now on my fourth station. Prepare to follow your job! After awhile it is not so bad, I've met alot of wonderful people.

SWA is building a new F/A crew base off of gate C1, it is going to be a 3 story structure and is supposedly going to allow the LAS base to become SWA's largest crew base.

Back to the topic, I have asked a couple of sources within the DOA at LAS and it is rumored, obviously, that SWA is taking over B12, B14, and B15 when the walkway is complete. So this would mean that it is 3 gates, not 2 being given up by US. just my thoughts.........

All of this coupled with the fact that Las Vegas is HURTING. Just walk around some of the casino's. They are dead. You KNOW it's bad when you go over to the Rio and both the Voodoo lounge AND Club Rio are closed. People on majority pay lower fares there and fuel is sky high. Put the planes somewhere else.
That could be due in part to the rates some of the hotels on the strip are charging...even in MIDWEEK. It used to be staying at any casino resort on the strip was pretty cheap...they knew they'd get the money from you in the casino. But $150 to $500 midweek room rates aren't going to do a lot to get folks in town. Shoot, I'm going to Reno Monday and got a room at Harrah's downtown for $60.

Try Hotwire.com. I got a double room at Circus Circus last year for $35/night and in February this year stayed at the Grand Sierra (used to be the Hilton at the airport) for $36/night. Makes skiing at Tahoe very inexpensive.

Keep US Airways, My US Airways!!! I never thought I would ever say that, but YES!! :up: :up: AND all HP people should be on the bandwagon too!!!!! :)
