Judge Mitchel Order

Very well said, this is the reality of where we are. Anyone who does not like it is free to leave, afterall, this is America.

What it is not is an entitlement arena...we have no choice but to compete with the lowest fare cometition, and do it while making a profit. DAL is right behind us....

A 21% pay cut is 79% less than a 100% pay cut
after liquidation which was the other option if the
company did not obtain relief from Judge Mitchell.

As an employee covered by a CBA, you have
2 choices. Accept the fact that airline economics
have irreversibly changed, or leave and find a
career that pays an acceptable wage.

If you are hanging around waiting for the judge
or the company to bring back the wages and
working conditions that existed prior to 1979,
you will be waiting for eternity. It isn't going to
happen.

AS USA320Pilot says, I don't like it, but there
are no other options available at this point.
Price is king in the airline industry and if you
cannot profitably fly with lower margins, you
need to adjust costs to meet the lower margins.

Simple economics. Good luck with the job
search.

Any ideas as to how much the fleet size will be reduced from the current 279 min.? Furlough numbers for various groups?

heard speculation from union of around 180 mainline...poss boeings to mda.......was speculation though..
once they get the contracts where they want them they'll show their POR and it will become quite clear quite suddenly then.

usfliboi,

"if Dl has better management, why are they on a verge of BK?"

Don't read much do you?

You answered your own question. They are "on the verge of BK", while we're in our second BK. Yet, unlike our management, they are making changes in an attempt to be competitive WHILE they attempt to negotiate what's needed to possibly avoid BK.

Unlike our management, they aren't giving the "We have a plan, but can't show it to you or do it until you agree to our demands" speech.

USfliboi,

You don't amaze me at all. Typical comment from the likes of you.

Delta will go into BK for the same reason U was first, then United.

They will all go in to get their "free pass" GET OUT OF LEASE PAYMENTS. The difference with DELTA is that the only contracts there are is ALPA.

Delta will go in to screw their leassors, lenders and unsecured creditors. They don't have any choice, same with the rest of the legacies.

If fuel keeps rising, all the LCC hedging in the future will be in much higher prices.

Some airline will just have to have the courage to INCREASE fares in order to accomodate these increases. Of course, they will probably wait until all of labor comes to work for free.

There is a "race to the bottom" for labor costs...or haven't you noticed.

AND REST ASSURED, USAIRWAYS IS NOT DONE WITH YOU YET, NOT BY A LONG SHOT!

They're coming to take me away ha ha
They're coming to take me away ho ho hee hee ha ha
To the happy home
With flowers and trees and chirping birds
And basket weavers who sit and smile
And twiddle their thumbs and toes and
They're coming to take me away ha ha!!

Actually, a number of fare increases have successfully gone through in the past couple weeks including at Southwest and AirTran.

Wow, I was wrong, I was sure that they would have imposed the 23%, but just like PitBull and 700UW said, the judge did no such thing.

I stand corrected. ;)

Rico.

I will state again...we did MUCH better than ALPA and much better than any of our proposals...the relief and the Long-term!

Quote from the judge Mitchell ( Today's Pittsburgh Tribune):

"He said he was granting the company only 4 mnths' relief because he didn't want to "tilt the negotiating table" against labor".

Just for your FYI...the judge does get it. And he is working within the guidlines of the BK as much as he can without totaling destroying labor and our future negotiations.

UNHAPPY? TOO BAD!
