JCBA Negotiations and updates for AA Fleet

At the last look back the annual flight numbers are as follows, with 5475 annual departures being the cut off:

SAT 4341
SJU 4361
TPA 5138
ATL 5274
STL 5532

Current language protects those stations under the pre-BK threshold of 2555. That protection disappears on September 12, 2018.

So will STL be the next catering (US fleet) or PIT (US M&R) whereby the company would like to close it but the NC and union leaders repeatedly make concessions the rest of the system bears to keep those privledged few in the Station and classification?

It was stated repeatedly on here that catering was a point of contention eventhough the jobs could be absorbed on the ramp, and that the PIT MX keeps limping along even though PIT is no longer a hub and there aren’t nearly enough aircraft movements to justify that size operation. Small stations got canned for catering.

Isn’t someone from 529 on the NC?

I guess by NYers numbers STL won’t even be among the first cut based on the current standalone LAA TWU language but it still seems the rest of the membership could lose out on other items to keep ~200 LLCers ensconced at STL.

We call them Union Brothers and Sisters guy, not LLCers.

Oh and the Negotiations are in DC tomorrow. Not on Airline Forums.

Easy to say when in any other station you’d be senior to them despite these brothers and sisters working in the industry decades before 05/1995.

I still think this may play out like catering.

To be honest sometimes I think the only reason you come here is to try to find the chink in the armor. To stir the chit and maybe see where it can be used by the Company against us.

I mean seriously, what is this crap and what’s it’s purpose? There are currently around 18,000 FSC in the system and under 400 of them use to work for TWA. But why should any of us want to strike a deal to help management shutter those who are left in STL?

Maybe I’m understanding you wrong but it seems like you’re saying you want me to vote to hurt them for something more for me? It sounds to me like you’re saying you’re the one who can offer me more to hurt them?

If true how many other people do you think I should vote to rip away from their homes? Have you ever had something like that happen to you?

Josh

I can't imagine there is anyone here who gives a damn what he thinks? I mean he's a finance guy put him in a sack with the used car salesman and a insurance adjuster and who knows which one falls out first

He sounds like he would be the one to sell people out to save his ass!

B737 he would so fast their head would spin

Like small stations were contracted out for catering? Like M&R classifications and line stations for PIT, a former hub like STL which hardly has enough aircraft movements to justify the size of its operation?

Wasn’t CLT the beneficiary of PIT closing in 2004 much like DFW was for STL in 2003?

Put another way, why should 17,500+ people sacrifice for a few hundred who want to end their careers in a given station?

700 always said “no one is guaranteed a job in a given city”....

No one will be involuntarily furloughed, crew chiefs and FSCs could CS and work back to back days at another hub.

You think most of the guys in LAX that are from LAA TWU SEA like their commute and QOL?

So in your opinion what happens Sept 13 2018 if there is no jcba? Take ATL for example, currently they fall 201 flights under, and lus is there too. Does the TWU get booted and IAM possibility bring in more to cover the operations? I'm only asking because they just posted 2 FT positions there and I'm thinking of putting in for it, would I be adding 1 layoff to my would be 5 stations in 30 years?

Steve not sure who you’re asking this opinion of but # 1 that date is almost a full year from now. Do you really expect us not to have a TA before then?

# 2 If the Company still has to continue to staff the location with well paid IAM members anyway, why would they push the TWU group out?

Don’t you think even if the doomsday scenario happened for TWU Members, on the clock IAM members would transfer in to fill the void. And those TWU Members would wind up in DFW more than likely anyway. So the Company wouldn’t gain any cost savings.

The Company closing any TWU locations prior to the language of a JCBA being implemented just makes zero sense period. For multiple reasons.

I was basically asking anyone their opinion on it. I agree with most of what you say. Personally I'm not overly confident of a TA or contract by this time next year but that's just me. Just curiously asking. I'm really not anxious to add layoff to the resume, so far knock on wood I've been fortunate

Well your guess is as good as anyone’s. I’ve been accused enough of quoting absolutes by I suppose very confused individuals, so I’m done with that.

Your move what to do man. For me I used to be very adventurous but I’m settled now. Tired of moving. Maybe FLL someday? Maybe? Otherwise.
